okay, so this chapter is 15k words long. there was NO good point to stop or split it up so i just left the scene whole. i love this scene. the dialogue came out of me without effort. easy. the characters were willing to talk through me. i had nothing to do with it. it was one of those days. i probably won't update this upcoming saturday because i have a rule for myself (i have to prewrite as much as i post every week to keep a consistent schedule). i intend to follow that rule. write, or no sweet sweet internet validation.
speaking of internet validation, basically no one voted on the last chapter. i'm assuming that's due to exams? are you all children? (children should not be reading this story ;-;) if you have constructive criticism, lmk here. i live to make my fandom friends happy <3
also if you made it this far into this very long story: thank you. i know it's a lot and reading it takes a lot of time. it takes me an hour to write 1000 words, not mentioning editing, so the time i've invested into this story is immense. it means a lot to me that you enjoy reading it. i love writing, and my favourite thing about writing fanfiction is having the ability to share my writing with an audience of people who love the same world and the same characters that i do. it brings me so much joy to connect with real people over my writing. when i write my novel it is isolated. i am the only one who cares about my characters. so this is nice. you make me happy, even if you're reading this story without voting or saying a word.
hi. i'm a real person and i wrote all of this, and you're a real person and you're reading it. this is directly from my brain. i wrote all of these words down one by one. no one has read them but me until today, and now you get to read them. how cool is that? i am so glad we both exist.

He lead him up the stairs, to the right, and into a room stuffed from floor to ceiling with books. Haphazard piles lined the walls, interrupted the aisles between the shelves. Some were in glass cases, arranged perfectly, others were shoved in corners, littered across the floor, spelled to the ceiling. It was the opposite of every other perfectly ordered room in the house. There were black leather chairs scattered randomly throughout the room. Regulus presented it to him with an unenthusiastic flourish.
"Behold, the Black family library amassed over centuries, etcetera."
"This is incredible." James wandered in, and reached for a book with the word Blood in the title. Regulus grabbed his wrist.
"Have you read any books about dark magic before, James?" His tone was sharp, concerned.
"Uh, no."
"That's exactly why you're reaching for them at random like a dumbass."
"You're so mean. Do you try to be mean, or is it just a reflex?" James frowned melodramatically. Regulus rolled his eyes.
"Come here, let me talk to you before you go all starry-eyed over our book collection." Regulus lead him in. They settled in two leather chairs hidden behind two sets of shelves in the corner of the room, creating a little room within the room where they were practically alone. A tension James hadn't noticed, coiled in Regulus' spine, loosened when the door was out of sight. "Muffliato."
"It's nice being in a wizard only house for the breaks. Do you think muggleborns get upset that they can't use any magic? It's a bit unfair, isn't it?"
