Ran Ling had her eyes on a pure black curly-haired Devon Rex, thinking it looked just like Yu Ting—seemingly noble and elegant yet adorably cute. Of course, she didn't share this reason with Yu Ting, fearing it might upset her. At the same time, she was also fond of a long-haired calico cat, which looked ethereal and had a great personality; it was clear she was intelligent. She had always had a soft spot for this breed after seeing pictures online. Now, she felt a bit conflicted, not knowing which one to choose.

Yu Ting told her that she could adopt both; it would be nice for them to have a playmate when the adults weren't home.

Having two cats for her first time made Ran Ling feel a bit pressured. She worried about not doing a good enough job. Yu Ting reassured her that it was okay; if she was afraid, she could hire a professional to help at home. There were plenty of pet hospitals nearby, and the closest one was just a ten-minute drive away, so there was no need to be scared.

This was, of course, great—better than what Ran Ling had imagined. She hadn't expected Yu Ting to be so proactive about these things. After hearing Yu Ting, she couldn't help but hug her arm and praised her with sign language, saying she was amazing and generous.

Yu Ting had already learned to easily understand these simple phrases, smiling softly as she replied, "Really?"

The video call with the cat shelter owner was still ongoing, the camera focused solely on Yu Ting's face, failing to capture the woman's charming appearance.

Ran Ling was dressed lightly, wearing a delicate black lace-trimmed camisole. Yu Ting's entire arm was nestled against her soft chest, brushing against her, the silk fabric sliding against her warm and smooth skin.

Every now and then, she would accidentally graze her breast.

The woman, whose eyes sparkled with affection, seemed utterly oblivious to this. After complimenting Yu Ting, she continued to focus on the video of the cats, while Yu Ting's gaze deepened as she watched Ran Ling's close-up profile.

After a moment, Yu Ting turned her face back to the cat shelter owner, saying, "Then it's settled; please hold those two cats we discussed earlier for us, and we'll come to pick them up in a while."

The shelter owner replied, "Alright, alright! In a few days, the kitties will be going home with their beautiful big sister~"

Both cats were still very young, and they hadn't completed their vaccinations yet, so they would need to stay at the shelter for a bit longer before they could be taken home.

Just then, Yu Ting got busy, having accumulated a lot of work during the days she had spent in the hospital with Ran Ling. Her plan to go on a business trip to Beijing had also been postponed to the next day.

After ending the video call and putting her phone down, Yu Ting focused on Ran Ling's lips, wrapping her arms around her waist, ready to lean in for a kiss, but Ran Ling pushed her away with her shoulder.

Yu Ting's expression showed her dissatisfaction: "What's wrong?"

Ran Ling noticed the discontent in her eyes, but there was something more important she wanted to discuss first.

So she held off on kissing her.

Yu Ting had mentioned her business trip to Ran Ling the day before. Hearing about it made Ran Ling sad and reluctant, as she had tried hard to forget it and enjoy the present. However, the prospect of separation was looming right in front of her, and that anxious reluctance bubbled back up. She had just been happy, but now, thinking about their impending separation, she couldn't bear it.
