Ran Ling hurriedly went back to her room to change clothes and went out to look for someone.

This area of the beach was a villa district, sparsely populated, and there were no streetlights on the beach, making it so dark that even shadows were hard to distinguish. Clinging to the hope of finding her near the beach, Ran Ling walked along the coastline for a long while. She finally reached a bustling commercial street, where people moved in and out, and various faces dazzled her eyes.

But there was no sign of Yu Ting...

Where could she have gone?

Why did she disappear?

Why didn't she tell her?

A deep sense of helplessness and despair enveloped Ran Ling. Yu Ting's safety and the inseparable bond between them were facing grave crises. She felt a little unsteady, bending over to support her knees, her long hair blown into disarray, and she crouched down awkwardly.

Taking a deep breath, Ran Ling took out her phone to call. As soon as the call connected, someone behind her suddenly called her name.

The voice sounded weak, as if drowned out by the waves, almost fading away.

"Ran Ling."

Ran Ling froze, turned her head, and indeed saw her. Yu Ting was calmly leaning against a railing not far behind her, her expression faint, appearing somewhat melancholic. In the dazzling light, she looked like a mirage that could disperse with a breeze.

Ran Ling's heart raced, almost making it hard to breathe.

"Hello? Sister Ran, what's wrong?" Zhao Xin's worried voice came through the phone.

"It's nothing..." Ran Ling hurriedly hung up, not bothering to tidy herself up. She stood up and walked in front of Yu Ting, looking at her and asking, "What are you doing here?"

"Why didn't you tell me when you went out?"

Yu Ting's voice held a trace of a cry suppressed in her throat, her eyes shimmering with glimmers of tears.

"Are you in a bad mood?"

"Why didn't you tell me?"

Ran Ling's anxious questions tumbled out as she grabbed Yu Ting's cool wrist, as if afraid she might disappear again.

Sometimes, Ran Ling felt helpless when it came to her.

Yu Ting, however, remained silent, examining Ran Ling with a calm and detached gaze.

She was different from all the times before; there was no intense love, no pain, just indifference. Her unfamiliar demeanor sparked countless negative thoughts in Ran Ling's mind, causing her to grow increasingly flustered.

"Listening..."

"What's wrong?"

"Can I have a hug?"

Thinking Yu Ting was affected by some negative emotion, Ran Ling reached out to embrace her tightly, rubbing against her in her favorite way, hoping she could feel the love and sense of security she brought, hoping to help drive away her pain. Yu Ting felt the warm moisture of Ran Ling's breath against her neck.

"No." Yu Ting finally spoke: "I'm not in a bad mood."

She tilted her head, speaking into Ran Ling's ear: "I just wanted to see how anxious you would be if I disappeared."

Yu Ting couldn't quite articulate why she acted this way, why she chose such a cruel method... Perhaps she wanted to witness it for herself, or perhaps she just wanted to see how anxious Ran Ling would become. She followed Ran Ling, witnessing it all.
