The summer is both long and fleeting; early autumn is approaching, and soon it will be Yu Ting's birthday.

Despite their relationship having reached a dangerously close point, and despite Ran Ling's ability to manipulate situations to her liking, she is still troubled by one question.

It's not that she fears Yu Ting will treat her coldly and violently as she did last year—Ran Ling knows that Yu Ting is now too afraid to act recklessly and is very obedient. Even if she feels miserable, she tries her best to control her emotions. What she fears more than anything is showing a bad temper towards Ran Ling.

Perhaps it's a sense of guilt.

Ran Ling herself feels guilty for the cruel thing she did on Yu Ting's birthday in the past, having a bad track record. Moreover, this day has always been sensitive.

Yu Ting has never celebrated her birthday. Will she want to this year? Ran Ling has prepared a birthday gift for her—should she give it to her on the day, and what kind of blessings should she say?

When she offers her blessings, will Yu Ting feel pain or happiness?

In the office of the Deputy General Manager of the Ran Group, a woman in a light gray suit is sitting with her legs crossed, propping her chin on her hand and gazing out the window, sighing with worry.

"Ran Jie, what's wrong?"

Her former studio assistant, Zhao Xin, has been brought along to help with errands. After organizing some documents, she notices Ran Ling's frown and asks about her relationship with Yu Ting.

Ran Ling sighs, "I'm not sure how to cheer her up."

"Ah?" Zhao Xin is taken aback.

"Did you two have a fight?"

Yu Ting is not easy to placate, and Zhao Xin has seen it before. Even after being hurt, she would return to Ran Ling with just one word from her. How serious must things be for her to feel at a loss for words? Zhao Xin grows alert.

"We didn't fight."

Ran Ling lazily replies, cleaning up her things, and says, "You should head home early," before getting up to leave.

Today she is working overtime; it is already 9 PM. The car drives out of the underground parking lot, and the streets are bright with neon lights, bustling and lively.

Ran Ling checks a certain person's location on her phone. After a short drive on the main road, she turns into an alley where glamorous lights still shine. Taverns, bars, tattoo shops, and bookstores are alive at night.

The car stops in front of a bar named "Hear." Ran Ling pushes the door open. The front desk warmly greets her, "Yu Jie is inside, over there."

The front desk points in her direction.

Yu Ting is in a black long dress, lying alone in the corner booth. The table is filled with alcohol, and she has her brows furrowed, eyes closed, seemingly lost in thought, ignoring anyone who approaches.

Her superior face, innate elegance, and luxurious attire create a unique beauty, even when she is angry—like an arrogant, temperamental noblewoman. Ran Ling enjoys watching her when she is upset; it's quite a sight.

Ran Ling approaches her, glancing at the table and lifting a cup to sniff its contents.

The bottle hasn't been opened; the cup holds iced tea. Ran Ling takes a sip, just what she needs to quench her thirst.

She sits down next to her. Yu Ting senses someone approaching and opens her eyes, sees it's Ran Ling, and closes them again.

Ran Ling asks casually, "What's wrong? Why do you look so troubled? Who made Yu Ting unhappy?"
