As soon as Yu Ting got into the car, she was waiting for Ran Ling to unblock her.

When she arrived at the hotel, she tried sending a message to let Ran Ling know she was safe, but all she got was a red exclamation mark.

Maybe she's busy with something else, Yu Ting reassured herself.

She went on with her own routine—taking a bath and her medication. The doctor had advised her to stay on her meds daily, and Yu Ting was following the instructions carefully. Half an hour later, she checked her phone again, sending another message: "I've reached the hotel."

The result was still a red exclamation mark.

Yu Ting frowned.

It had been an hour since she'd left the estate. Hadn't Ran Ling unblocked her yet?

Did she forget?

Or was she just busy?

Sitting on the bed, Yu Ting waited a bit longer, sending yet another message, only to be greeted with the same red exclamation mark.

Growing more anxious, Yu Ting couldn't tell if Ran Ling had genuinely forgotten or had changed her mind. In a moment of desperation, she created a new account, searched for Ran Ling's WeChat ID, and sent her a friend request: "Did you forget to unblock me?"

The request sat there, unanswered for a long time.

Had she forgotten, or had she decided not to unblock her?

Feeling uneasy, Yu Ting couldn't sleep, nor did she try. She spent the whole night waiting, unable to rest until finally, at eight in the morning, Ran Ling accepted her new friend request.

Yu Ting's heart skipped a beat, wondering what to say. Ran Ling messaged: "I forgot last night, just woke up."

Just woke up...

So, she'd fallen asleep quickly after returning. She was no longer like before, where she would insist on Yu Ting's presence to be able to sleep.

She didn't need Yu Ting in that way anymore...

It was good; this was a healthier way to be...

Yu Ting breathed a sigh of relief, though a pang of sadness lingered—Ran Ling would be better off without her, while she herself was falling apart. Ran Ling had never needed her; she was the one who couldn't let go of Ran Ling.

After adjusting her emotions, Yu Ting sent a message: "I'd like to see the cats."

A few seconds later, Ran Ling sent a video of the two kittens.

The kittens had grown, now about six months old, looking stronger but still elegant and beautiful.

They were being boarded at a pet shop, living a carefree life with many other cats to play with.

Ran Ling messaged her: "I miss them."

Yu Ting replied right away: "Ling-jie, do you know when you'll be back? If you're planning to stay here a while, I could bring them over for you."

Both kittens were adaptable and well-behaved. Although flying them over carried some risk, Yu Ting knew she could arrange a private jet if Ran Ling wanted.

Ran Ling: "No need, don't go to so much trouble."

Ran Ling: "I might be back soon."

Yu Ting smiled: "Alright."

Yu Ting: "Just woke up, Ling-jie?"

Ran Ling: "Yes."
