After a sleepless night, sitting with her phone until dawn, Yu Ting couldn't tell if she was exhausted or exhilarated.

"I didn't throw away your ring."

This was the message she had drafted last night, determined to let the other person know that she hadn't casually trampled on her feelings.

While sending the message, her hands trembled. She desperately wanted Ran Ling to see it right away, to understand that she didn't take her lightly, that she cared. She wanted her to know... that she loved her.

Do I love her?

Yu Ting pondered, realizing that she did indeed love her.

Even now, Yu Ting didn't fully understand what love was, but she was certain that no one could replace Ran Ling. All she wanted was to be with her.

Is this love?

However, the message went unanswered. Yu Ting clutched her phone, waiting until it eventually turned off when the battery died. She got up to find a charger.

Charging her phone didn't mean it would turn on immediately; she kept trying until it finally powered up. But there was still no reply from Ran Ling. Yu Ting told herself many convincing reasons not to feel bad—after all, it was late, and Ran Ling was probably resting.

So she stayed awake until dawn, watching the rain stop and the sun slowly rise in the sky. The sun continued to threaten her, and she felt the pain dragging on without resolution.

If only Ran Ling could respond, then she could chase the pain away; Yu Ting knew this all too well.

But Ran Ling didn't reply, so she had to keep enduring.

Yu Ting stared at Ran Ling's location until the sky brightened, and only then did she finally give up hope.

She must have seen the message.

Why isn't she replying?

Yu Ting stood up, her vision darkening as she leaned against the nearby table for a moment to steady herself before continuing out the door.

Giving up was about waiting, not about willingly losing her.

She had to go find her, to tell her in person.

This time, Yu Ting didn't walk directly into the shop. Instead, she instructed the driver to stop the car not far from the entrance. After waiting for about half an hour, she finally saw the woman named Fang Chi.

Fang Chi and Ran Ling emerged from the shop together. Yu Ting scrutinized Fang Chi closely, confirming that they didn't resemble each other at all. What relieved her even more was that Ran Ling was going in a different direction; she watched as Ran Ling got into her own car.

Ran Ling opened the car door, and Yu Ting rushed out, calling, "Ran Ling!"

Hearing her name, Ran Ling paused and turned back.

Today, the wind was strong; when she turned around, her long hair blew across her face like sharp knives. She gently pushed her hair away from her face, focusing on the woman striding toward her.

The winter sky in Yun City was a grayish hue, and the bustling traffic carried an air of solitude unique to the season. Yu Ting hurried her steps, draped in a gray lamb wool coat, her hair blown wildly by the wind. She appeared flustered and weary, having once cared greatly about her appearance but now seemingly indifferent.

She looked so weak that just a few hurried steps left her breathless, her pale face contrasting with the redness around her eyes, as if she were already on the verge of tears.
