Ran Ling accepted Yu Ting's ring and even took a picture to show off on social media, but she still hadn't signed the prenuptial agreement.

It wasn't because there was anything that would cause Yu Ting pain; it was simply that she wanted to change her name first.

Recently, the Ran family had been in chaos. Grandmother Ran was furious and had lectured her children. She had also heard about Ran Ling's situation and specially called her over.

Grandmother Ran was not an old-fashioned person. Having adopted children herself, she didn't place much importance on the bloodline of heirs; she always valued capability above all. Moreover, she still regarded Ran Ling as her own granddaughter. On one hand, she had noticed Ran Ling when she started working at Ran Corporation; she found the girl beautiful, smart, and decisive, much more impressive than her father. On the other hand, after learning the details of the situation, she knew it wasn't Ran Ling and her mother's fault; it was all because her son, Ran Long, was a failure who couldn't even produce offspring. The daughter he had was a blessing, and he didn't know how to cherish her. He was the one who owed it to them. He should be the one kneeling and apologizing.

When she heard that Ran Ling wanted to change back to her mother's surname, Grandmother Ran patted her hand affectionately and smiled, saying she supported her.

"What a pity about your mother marrying that useless man. You should hate him enough; it's indeed time you stopped carrying his surname."

"If you can save that project he messed up, you can take over his position. Now that your throat is better, it's time to do something productive."

Grandmother Ran was shrewd and could vaguely see what Ran Ling wanted to do, as well as who was behind her. But she didn't think it was a bad thing. If Ran Ling truly had the capability, she could earn her keep. She was old, and whoever could bring benefits to the corporation would have a chance to lead it.

This could also make up for the debt she felt she owed this granddaughter.

Before Ran Ling left, Grandmother Ran left her with one last word: "If you find out that your mother's death is truly related to Ran Long, don't hesitate. Send him away if necessary."

With Grandmother Ran's support, Ran Ling smoothly took over Ran Long's position at Ran Corporation. No one in the Ran family dared to look down on her anymore; they all tried to get closer to her. Ran Long was unemployed at home, and Ran Xue had just been discharged from the hospital. Zheng Qinyan had taken Ran Xue to recover out of town and had no energy to deal with him anymore. That man was still scheming; he called Ran Ling every few days, changing his attitude from hostility to ingratiating himself with his eldest daughter, trying to express fatherly love, subtly pleading with her not to change her surname. He knew that once she did, it would mean a complete break with him. Now she was the favored one in front of the old lady, and he could only rely on her. But all of that was ignored by Ran Ling.

Changing back to her mother's surname was a necessity, but what should she call herself? Would "Jing Ling" sound good? It was quite nice. However, to please someone special, Ran Ling cleverly replaced the "Ling" with the character for "listening."

Jing Ling.

She changed her name to Jing Ling, carrying with it a part of Yu Ting's strength, perfectly suited to her. Just like in their childhood when Ran Ling, as an older sister, listened endlessly and indulgently to Yu Ting, it mirrored their lives intertwined in the future.

Yu Ting was actually quite anxious; indeed, she was a patient, too obsessive, and while she craved security, her paranoia made her worry about any possible changes. She couldn't eat well, drink well, or sleep well, needing to be soothed daily with "I love listening" to feel at ease.
