There was so much blood. Yu Ting was losing a lot of blood.

It wasn't just her neck; her body was covered with wounds, large and small, as passersby tried to press down on them to stop the bleeding.

Ran Ling knelt in front of her, pressing firmly against the wound on her neck. Blood was seeping through, staining Ran Ling's skirt red. Yu Ting lay in a pool of blood, her heavy eyelids half-closed. She looked up at Ran Ling weakly, her breathing barely noticeable.

Ran Ling's trembling hand kept stroking her face. "Ting... Ting, please..."

She was like a cat, huddling by the roadside, nudging its injured companion, desperate and sobbing, begging Yu Ting not to fall asleep.

But Yu Ting was too exhausted, too cold, in too much pain to hold on. Her eyelids closed, blocking out Ran Ling's pleas, leaving her voice unheard.

Ran Ling was on the brink of collapse, nearly fainting in despair.

Waiting for rescue felt like an eternity; each second stretched painfully, like razor blades carving into her heart. It felt as if all of Yu Ting's blood was spilling into her own chest.

She lost track of time until finally, she heard the distant sound of sirens, like hope finally arriving. With shaking hands, she handed Yu Ting over to the paramedics and climbed into the ambulance.

Blood Type: A

She was Type A. Frantically, Ran Ling showed the doctor her notes. He nodded. "We know; you mentioned it when we started."

Ran Ling couldn't stop trembling, standing by as they tried to save Yu Ting, watching the white sheets quickly stain red. She gripped her phone tightly, her notes ready to answer any question the medical team might have about Yu Ting, afraid to lose even a second.

Fortunately, the hospital was close by—a mere five-minute drive. Yu Ting was rushed into the emergency room, and Ran Ling instinctively tried to follow. Her body acted without thought, but a doctor held her back. She was left, covered in blood, staring blankly at the doors as a swarm of doctors and nurses moved in and out, rushing to save Yu Ting.

Shortly after, a nurse came out to speak to her: "Are you family? The patient has multiple cuts and abrasions, a fractured left upper arm. The neck wound is the most serious; although it didn't hit an artery, there was significant blood loss. Vital signs are low, and she's in critical condition. You should prepare yourself."

Prepare herself... to lose Yu Ting...

Before long, she was handed a critical condition notice for her to sign. She barely managed to hold the pen, and before the doctor could take the form, it slipped from her grip and clattered to the floor.

She muttered an apology, dazed, as she turned around, supporting herself against the wall, then slumped to the floor, her strength gone. Pei Ya arrived just in time to catch her as she collapsed.

Pei Ya glanced at the illuminated emergency room and helped her up, guiding her to a chair. Ran Ling was almost slipping off the seat, her body trembling, clinging to his arm in silent anguish.

"Are you hurt too?" Pei Ya asked, noticing the blood covering her. "You should take care of your injuries."

Ran Ling shook her head. "It's all Yu Ting's blood," she told him.

With tear-filled eyes, she recounted to Pei Ya how close she'd come to dying. She spoke in choked, broken words, telling him that Yu Ting, despite her fractured arm, had still managed to pull her from the car, shielding her from the explosion.
