In the back seat of the car, it was just the two of them. Yu Ting no longer cared about any sense of propriety or offense; she wrapped her arms around Ran Ling's waist, curling up in her embrace, tears streaming down her face, completely soaking Ran Ling's clothes.

Her vulnerability was disarming. Ran Ling felt utterly helpless against this clingy Yu Ting, allowing her to lean into the crook of her neck while gently caressing her cheek. When she noticed the scratches on Yu Ting's hand, she sighed softly.

I want to hit something.

The two drenched women held each other like that. Luckily, they arrived at the villa just two minutes later. Ran Ling took her hand and led her out of the car, where a servant held an umbrella for them.

She instructed the servants to call the private doctor, leading a silent Yu Ting, who had stopped crying, to her room.

Once the door was closed, Ran Ling immediately released her hand and rummaged through the closet for two loose-fitting nightgowns, handing them to Yu Ting and urging her to take a hot shower.

"You're soaked too; you should wash first," Yu Ting said, her red eyes still glistening with tears.

[I'll wash in another room.] Ran Ling signed. [Or should you wash outside?]

This was Ran Ling's room, filled with a comforting scent that reassured Yu Ting, while the outside felt foreign. Like a little pet just rescued from the street, Yu Ting, still unsure of her safety, chose the former.

Taking the nightgown prepared by Ran Ling, she entered the bathroom. Alone with the hot water, her mind slowly began to clear, though anxiety crept back in.

What would Ran Ling's attitude be now?

Ran Ling hadn't expressed anything—no relief, no promises, no commitments to Yu Ting.

Did her actions—holding her, comforting her, bringing her back to wash—mean she truly accepted Yu Ting, or was it merely her inherent kindness that couldn't bear to see Yu Ting in such a state, offering temporary refuge?

Yu Ting couldn't help but overthink and desperately wanted answers. She showered quickly, changed into the nightgown, and emerged with her damp hair. Ran Ling was probably still in the shower, as she hadn't returned to the room yet. A maid came in with a bowl of hot ginger soup and, noticing Yu Ting's wet hair, asked if she wanted help drying it. Yu Ting politely refused after thanking her.

She was considerate and understood how to make things easier for Ran Ling. After drinking a few sips of ginger soup, she went to dry her hair. Just as she was drying it, Ran Ling entered the room with the doctor.

The doctor was a long-haired woman in glasses and a white coat, carrying a medical kit. After confirming with Ran Ling, she turned to Yu Ting and said, "Hello, Miss Yu. I'm Miss Ran's private doctor, Dr. He. Miss Ran asked me to help treat your injuries."

Seeing Yu Ting stare at her blankly, Ran Ling pretended to be serious and signed: [Sit still.]

Yu Ting promptly sat down on the sofa. Dr. He crouched down, opened the medical kit, and began disinfecting and treating her wounds. There were varying degrees of injuries on her legs and arms, some deep, some shallow, evidence of how fiercely she had acted out.

As Dr. He worked, Ran Ling had just finished her shower, wearing a light pink nightgown that made her appear soft and delicate. Noticing that Yu Ting's hair was still damp, she turned to the bathroom to fetch a hairdryer, planning to help dry Yu Ting's hair after she finished treating her wounds.
