The woman asked, "Aren't you going to introduce me?"

Yu Ting replied simply, "My wife."

The woman gave a knowing nod, slipping her hands into her coat pockets and looking at Ran Ling with a curious glint in her eyes. "Hello, I'm Xiao Ting's friend."

Ran Ling responded with a polite smile but said nothing.

The woman looked slightly puzzled, so Yu Ting explained, "Her voice isn't in the best shape."

She said it lightly, with a protective and almost indulgent tone.

"Oh... are you two going for dinner?"

"Just up ahead."

The woman hesitated, as if she had more to say, but Yu Ting cut her off. "We're almost at our reservation," she said, with a hint of finality.

The woman smiled gracefully. "Alright, maybe we'll meet again sometime."

Not that Yu Ting was particularly inclined to. She took Ran Ling's hand and walked past her without looking back.

A few steps on, Yu Ting turned to Ran Ling, pulling a single rose from her pocket and leaning close to whisper, "You look gorgeous tonight."

Ran Ling was indeed especially stunning, wearing a fitted, blush-colored dress with a floral pattern and delicate folds. Her bare shoulders and back complemented her slender, graceful figure, and her usual straight black hair was styled into soft waves that cascaded down her back, just covering the bare skin. Her makeup was meticulous, and she wore high heels that gave her an exotic allure—graceful yet captivating.

Ran Ling accepted the rose, taking in its scent before linking her arm through Yu Ting's and leaning up to kiss her on the cheek.

Yu Ting teased, "Already stealing a kiss on our date?"

Hm?

Ran Ling blinked, then realized Yu Ting was playing along with their dating game.

So, they were still in the "flirting phase" of this game?

With a little hum, Ran Ling let go of her arm, putting some distance between them, as if they were just two acquaintances.

Yu Ting raised an eyebrow but stayed quiet.

But Ran Ling was too beautiful—too striking. As they walked, every passerby seemed to steal a glance. Yu Ting noticed a man who had turned to follow them, phone in hand, clearly hoping to ask for Ran Ling's contact.

Feeling a surge of possessiveness, Yu Ting wrapped an arm around Ran Ling's waist and pulled her close, closing the gap between them. The man hesitated, then walked away.

Ran Ling, unaware of her inner thoughts, shot her a playful look, half-chiding, half-indulgent.

Yu Ting, undeterred by her own broken rule, said calmly, "Putting an arm around you isn't a big deal—even regular friends do that."

So did Xiao Ting have a habit of putting her arm around her "regular friends"?

The next day, Yu Ting saw the same woman again—in the conference room at work.

The woman wore her hair in long, chestnut curls, with a refined, bold makeup look and a tailored high-end suit that exuded professionalism. She sat across from Yu Ting with her assistant.

Yesterday's encounter hadn't surprised Yu Ting; she'd known the woman was coming and would be here to discuss a partnership.

The meeting concluded without incident, and after everyone else had left, the woman stayed seated, resting her chin on her clasped hands and watching Yu Ting intently. Yu Ting stayed behind as well.
