Jiang Yuan found a small courtyard with a serene environment, nestled by a bamboo grove. The air was fresh, and a small river beside the courtyard teemed with fish and shrimp, with children often playing nearby, filling the place with life.
"Wife, areChapter 79: Main Text Completed
Jiang Yuan's chosen cottage was secluded, with a bamboo forest behind it and a small river beside, where fish and shrimp played. Children occasionally came to play, filling the place with vitality.
"Wife, shall we go farm?" Lin Kong asked eagerly, holding a bamboo basket. They had been here over ten days, completing tasks, but hadn't visited the fields yet.
"The fields are all leased out. Just stay home obediently. It's almost dark," Jiang Yuan knew Lin Kong was curious but didn't know the toil of farming. Once she experienced it, she might find it arduous.
Though Jiang Yuan couldn't farm, the original owner could. But since they sought a peaceful life, following their hearts was better than forcing labor.
Occasionally, they could visit the fields, but Jiang Yuan had other matters to attend to now.
Disappointed, Lin Kong put down the basket, then suggested, "Wife, let's cook."
"Isn't Wan'er cooking?" Jiang Yuan was arranging a fence to raise ducks and grow flowers and herbs.
"I know." Lin Kong approached to help, "But I want to cook with you."
"You?" Jiang Yuan chuckled, recalling Lin Kong and Song Keyan's disastrous attempt at medicine, doubting Lin Kong's kitchen skills.
Lin Kong, remembering the incident, took advantage of their privacy to hug Jiang Yuan's waist, coaxing, "Wife, teach me to cook, please?"
Jiang Yuan's waist was sensitive, and she flinched. Seeing Lin Kong's boredom, she relented, "Alright, but I need to finish this first."
"Okay."
With Lin Kong's help, Jiang Yuan soon finished the fence. Carrying the "big treasure" to the kitchen, they startled Lin Wan.
"Sister-in-law, what are you two doing?" Lin Wan asked, blushing.
Hearing the question, Lin Kong continued hugging Jiang Yuan's waist, telling Lin Wan, "Wan'er, you go play. Wife and I are cooking."
"Mm? Okay." Lin Wan scurried out, face reddening.
Jiang Yuan patted the hands around her waist, "You scared her off. Now you have to cook alone."
Knowing she wouldn't turn into a "little thug" again, Lin Kong still felt uneasy, "Wife, you go first, and I'll learn by your side."
Jiang Yuan had expected as much. Taking the ladle, she slowed her movements, content to let Lin Kong enjoy domestic life.
Lin Kong silently followed, eyes darting about, seemingly plotting something.
Jiang Yuan noticed Lin Kong discreetly swallowing. Simmering some braised bamboo shoots, she blew on a fragrant piece, offering it to Lin Kong.
Lin Kong eagerly opened her mouth, her tongue purposefully brushing Jiang Yuan's fingers, making her shiver. Jiang Yuan gave the mischievous one a stern look, continuing to cook the next dish.
