In recent days, Jiang Yuan had been having a recurring dream. In this dream, she found herself in a hospital bed, surrounded by various tubes and an oxygen mask covering her mouth and nose. The pain in her lower abdomen was relentless. It wasn't until a gentle warmth pressed against her that the pain slightly subsided.

Her entire body felt paralyzed, as if her blood had solidified, leaving her immobile. Sometimes she felt like she was back in the modern world, and at other times, she felt she was still trapped in an unknown era. What stood out the most in her dream was the sensation of water droplets occasionally falling on her face, reminiscent of a gentle spring rain. After the droplets landed, someone would hurriedly wipe them away.

This was when Jiang Yuan felt most comforted, knowing someone was there with her. However, after a certain day, the cooling raindrops ceased, replaced by the frequent administration of bitter medicine. She disliked the overpowering taste of the medicine but couldn't muster the strength to resist or even groan.

Her dreams were a chaotic mix, alternating between the antiseptic-scented hospital and a traditional courtyard, yet something always seemed missing. After what felt like an eternity of lying still, she suddenly heard suppressed voices nearby.

Jiang Yuan wanted to hear clearly, instinctively searching for Lin Kong's voice. However, it felt like her ears were blocked, and gradually, all sound faded away, returning her to a state of confusion.

...

The room was brightly lit. Shi Qi, with a furrowed brow, looked anxiously at Jiang Yuan, who lay on the bed with a pallid complexion, and said, "Her condition is worsening by the day. It's only the third day, and already..."

Though she swallowed the rest of her words, everyone in the room understood that they couldn't delay any longer.

"Imperial Physician Zhang is verifying the antidote. If it's genuine, she can take it soon, and she'll recover," Song Keyan said, pacing the room, trying to reassure herself. But Jiang Yuan's condition was indeed concerning.

Also present were Jing Anrui, who had a slightly furrowed brow, and Jing Xuan, ready to follow orders at any moment. As for Lin An and Lin Wan, Jiang Yuan's incident was kept from them by Lin Kong, who wanted them to live peacefully without worry.

After waiting restlessly for a while, Imperial Physician Zhang finally entered the room. He first bowed to Jing Anrui before presenting a brown pill, saying, "My Lord, the antidote is genuine and safe to use."

Jing Anrui's eyes lit up with relief as he rubbed his forehead, "Then hurry and give it to Miss Jiang."

"Yes."

"Let me do it," Shi Qi said seriously as she took the pill. It was dark brown, about the size of a fingernail, with a faint medicinal aroma.

Shi Qi carefully forced Jiang Yuan's mouth open and fed her the pill, followed by some water. But Jiang Yuan couldn't swallow it and ended up spitting out some water, the pill stuck at her teeth.

Growing anxious, Shi Qi asked, "Doctor Zhang, can the pill be dissolved in water?"

Imperial Physician Zhang, equally anxious, replied, "It's best taken with warm water directly."

The antidote, obtained through Lin Kong's sacrifice, made Shi Qi reluctant to dissolve it without assurance. Yet, she couldn't make Jiang Yuan swallow it and didn't want to take advantage of her condition, leaving her feeling helpless.
