Song Keyan had been brought by Shi Qi, who calculated that she was Song Qingwei's weakness. Shi Qi promised Song Keyan she wouldn't kill Song Qingwei, so they came together. They hadn't expected to hear the shocking revelation that Song Qingwei's rebellion was merely to gather suitable heart blood.

Song Keyan's presence was unexpected. Song Qingwei had locked her away not only to protect her but to prevent her from causing trouble. However, sensing something amiss outside, Song Keyan had found a way out and encountered Shi Qi, who shared recent events with her, omitting that Song Qingwei was Shi Qi's enemy. She only mentioned his rebellion and intent to kill Jiang Yuan.

Song Keyan, having lost any feelings for Jiang Yuan, still didn't want her harmed by her father. She didn't grasp the gravity of the situation, thinking a few words could change her father's mind. But upon hearing the truth, she realized she never truly knew Song Qingwei.

"Yan'er?" Song Qingwei, not wanting to ruin his image before his daughter, thought Shi Qi had brought her forcibly. He set aside his tasks to rescue her, confident he could handle any foe with ease.

Shi Qi, aware of Song Qingwei's martial prowess, knew she couldn't defeat him. That's why she brought Song Keyan, hoping to use her to distract him. Though it seemed underhanded, Shi Qi was willing to do anything for revenge and to save Lin Kong and Jiang Yuan, even if Song Keyan ended up hating her.

However, Shi Qi only intended to divert Song Qingwei's attention, not expecting immediate success. Her sword was ready, poised to strike.

Seeing her father move, Song Keyan stepped in front of Shi Qi, demanding, "Father, is what they said true?"

She couldn't believe the man who taught her integrity and patriotism could be so terrifying. She knew little of dark rituals and doubted their power. If they worked, why hadn't anyone used them before?

"Yan'er, come here. You don't need to worry about this," Song Qingwei, now obsessed with his grand plans, still cared for Song Keyan.

"Then let them go. They're my friends," Song Keyan said, gesturing to Jiang Yuan and the others. Jiang Yuan's fingers glowed blue, her face pained, while Lin Kong and Jiang Chen were near death. She didn't understand why there was another who looked like Jiang Yuan.

"Yan'er, listen to your father, come here," Song Qingwei said, his patience thinning, giving a final warning.

"So it's true? And you won't spare them?" Song Keyan pressed.

"Yes, now come," Song Qingwei prepared to pull her over.

Song Keyan moved first, drawing a dagger to her throat. The blade gleamed, poised to pierce her artery. Shi Qi gasped, "Miss Song, put down the knife."

Song Qingwei's expression froze, then turned cold. Ignoring Song Keyan's threat, he resumed his ritual, certain she wouldn't harm herself.

"Father," Song Keyan's eyes reddened, pressing the blade harder. Blood trickled down her neck. She choked out, "If these rituals were real, why didn't you use them to save mother?"

Song Qingwei's face darkened. A flick of his finger sent a pebble striking Song Keyan's wrist, making her drop the dagger. In an instant, he seized her, immobilizing her. She protested, "Father."
