After eating and taking medicine, Jiang Yuan and Lin Kong stayed in their room most of the day, avoiding any more gossip about the conspicuous marks on their necks. Lin Kong lay beside Jiang Yuan, idle, "Wife, does your stomach really not hurt anymore?"
"It doesn't hurt," Jiang Yuan replied casually, peeling off her outerwear in front of Lin Kong, then using a warm towel to gently press the reddish marks. Though inexperienced, she knew warm compresses could help reduce the visibility of love bites by promoting circulation.
Seeing the marks on Jiang Yuan's skin, Lin Kong looked away awkwardly. These were undeniable evidence of their intimacy. She turned her head, pretending not to notice Jiang Yuan’s actions.
Noticing Lin Kong's reaction, Jiang Yuan chuckled, "What are you hiding from? You have some on your neck too."
Lin Kong exclaimed, surprised as she touched her neck, tilting her head to see. But she couldn't, and Jiang Yuan teased, "They're on the right side; you can't see them like that."
Realizing she couldn't see the marks, Lin Kong gave up and turned to help Jiang Yuan, wanting to massage her gently.
Jiang Yuan handed the towel to Lin Kong, "Be gentle, or it'll swell more."
"Okay," Lin Kong focused intently, her movements gentle, as if handling a precious artifact. Jiang Yuan laughed, "Sister probably knows about us now."
Lin Kong looked up, puzzled, "Huh? We didn't do anything wrong."
In her mind, they were married, and everything they did was normal—a belief deeply ingrained over the years, explaining why she acted so confidently.
Jiang Yuan recounted her earlier actions, particularly mentioning the prominent mark on Lin Kong's neck and Lin An's strong reaction upon seeing it.
Lin Kong blushed, realizing Lin An had been probing and had suspected Jiang Yuan of infidelity. Understanding this, she pouted, "How could Sister suspect you like that?"
Jiang Yuan pointed at her own marks without speaking. If she were Lin An, suddenly seeing ambiguous marks on a sibling-in-law who was secretly a woman, she'd be alarmed too.
Feeling a mix of regret and annoyance at her handiwork, Lin Kong rubbed the marks harder, trying to make them disappear. She even blew on Jiang Yuan's neck, sending a shiver through her.
"Stop worrying. What's done is done. Are you planning to deny it?" Jiang Yuan poked Lin Kong's cheek, suppressing the heat in her body. "Besides, we'll have to tell them eventually."
They wouldn't stay in Yuan Prefecture indefinitely. Whether Lin An and Lin Wan stayed or left, they needed to be honest eventually.
"I'm not denying anything," Lin Kong said, holding Jiang Yuan's restless fingers, examining them closely.
Jiang Yuan's fingers were slender and bony, possessing a certain elegance. Lin Kong compared their hands, noting hers were longer. Now knowing how hands were used in intimacy, Lin Kong was thankful for her long fingers.
This was a mischievous thought as she played with Jiang Yuan's fingers, her actions gentle yet provocative, almost igniting a fire within Jiang Yuan.
