Today was Slughorn's Christmas Party, meaning it was the day before Christmas Break, which basically meant a month of hell. Don't get me wrong, I loved the holidays. I loved Christmas, or at least I did when my parents were alive. This year I wouldn't get to spend it with them, it was a huge change. Not to mention Ernie and I would be staying with Snape. Snape! I had no one to complain to besides Ernie, but he outlawed me after the third rant session.
After the part was announced, I promptly asked Theo to accompany me. I didn't do anything fancy, but I thought it would be sweet to get him his favourite flowers and some chocolates. He always spoiled me so now was the perfect time to spoil him.
I start getting ready for the evening at three pm. This way I'll have around four hours to be ready. I always get easily distracted, so I had to build in extra time.
I sift through my wardrobe, looking at each and every dress I owned. I didn't want to buy a new one since I already had so many available. As I look through them, my eye catches one particular one. It was a light green sage dress with ruffled sleeves. The dress my mum made for me for my birthday. It wasn't festive necessarily, but it spoke to me.
With trembling hands I take it out of my wardrobe, eyes glancing over the elegant features. I tear up slightly at the sight. I don't mean to be mellow-dramatic, but it just made me homesick. It was the last dress she made me, the last thing she'd ever make me so it was sentimental. I knew I had to wear it.
I set the dress gently down on my bed and began to get ready. I heat my curling iron and start pulling back my hair. I wanted to go for something simple yet elegant to match my dress. I decided on pulling back and pinning a few pieces of hair back. It was like a half up half down look without tying it in the back, I twisted and pinned a chunk of my hair on each side of my head. After the twists were pinned, I decided to add some pearl clips for a bit of pizazz. To finish it off, I do loose curls for extra extra pizzazz. I wasn't feeling Straight hair.
I had to do a time check after my hair, and when I saw the clock read four thirty, I had a slight heart attack. I decided it was time for a quick snack, so I snuck down to the kitchens and practically begged the house elves to make me chocolate-covered strawberries. I was in a sweet but healthy mood.
After munching, I began my makeup. I wanted something natural yet glittery. I decided to apply a bit of foundation and some blush before tackling my eyes. I stare at my collection of eyeshadow palettes, silently having a crisis before finding the perfect one. I do a very, very light sage eyeshadow base before topping it with a glitter white eyeshadow and applying mascara. I used a pair of tweezers to pinch my eyelashes together to get a doe-eye effect. I apply a natural glossy pink lippie and finish with a smile.
The clock reads six pm. I collapse on my bed with a content sigh and decide to pass time by re-reading one of my favorite magazines. As the clock hits six-forty-five, I decide it's time to put on my dress. I carefully step into the dress and zip it halfway before I realize I can't reach the top. I sigh and cross my arms, stomping my foot as I try to figure out a solution.
