Chapter 146

Wayne Memorial Hospital — Room 001

Inside Room 001, only the soft hum of machines disturbed the silence.

Miexha slept peacefully on the hospital bed, her breathing slow, fragile… human.

Sarah sat beside her, unmoving, as though afraid time itself might fracture if she stirred too much.

In her palm rested a silver necklace.

The same necklace she had given Miexha on her seventeenth birthday.

Carefully, she poured what little power she could still command into the pendant.

Invisible currents stirred around the room, bending softly toward the necklace as if answering an ancient call.

“As long as you wear this…” Sarah murmured, voice unsteady, “nothing will harm you… not even your own dreams.”

Sarah leaned forward, gently placing the necklace around Miexha’s neck.

Soft gold light spread across Miexha’s collarbone before fading beneath the hospital gown.

Her brows twitched faintly, as though her soul had recognized something before her mind could follow.

Sarah exhaled shakily, exhaustion weighing heavily on her body.

She could feel her magic weakening.

A faint ripple distorted the air behind her.

Space folded inward silently.

Damian stepped through the fracture between worlds, his presence swallowing the dim room in quiet authority.

Even weakened, he still felt ancient.

“Have you made up your mind?” Damian said calmly.

Sarah did not turn immediately.
Her gaze remained in Miexha.

“I still have enough strength… for this much.”
Only then did she look at him.

“Damian…” her voice softened.
“I ask you now… not only as your sister…”
She slowly lowered her gaze.
“…but as your loyal subject.”

Memories of another world lingered in the quiet space between them.

Gruel.

A world feared even by monsters.

Sarah had stood beside him through every rise of power.

Every war.

Every betrayal.

She had devoted centuries ensuring Damian’s victory — guiding outcomes through visions no one else could see.

She had shown him how to become the king the world would fear.

And how…
he bring back the one he loved from death itself.

Her loyalty had never wavered.

Until now.

Her voice trembled.
“I have seen many futures… many endings…”

Her fingers curled slightly against her dress.

“But this is the only time I ask something for myself.”
Her eyes returned to Miexha.
“Let my daughter live.”

Damian stepped closer.
He placed a steady hand on Sarah’s shoulder.

“You do not need to beg.”
His voice was quiet — but absolute.
“She will not die.”

Behind Damian, the air rippled once more.
