Chapter 155
Marie herself had a destined one once.
Uriel Dom.
Jayson’s great-great-grandfather.
When Damian learned of it, he had locked her inside their underground bunker while Uriel was still alive.
Naturally… she escaped.
Curiosity has always been stronger than obedience.
When she finally saw Uriel, he was already in his sixties.
He had children… who had given him children.
Still… her heart fluttered.
Destiny had a strange way of making even impossible bonds feel real.
So Marie simply watched from afar.
Her only regret…
was that she could not save him from the curse of his bloodline.
Uriel had hated the tradition.
He wanted to end it with his generation.
But he couldn’t.
During that era, the war against the Zenips had already begun.
Half of humanity had nearly been wiped out.
Only the Dom bloodline possessed the ability to kill Royal-ranked Zenips.
Uriel chose duty until his final breath.
He became the only Dom in history to produce twelve children.
Ensuring the survival of their bloodline.
Marie revealed herself only once—
on the final day of his life.
He was 119 years old.
Yet he recognized her immediately.
He thanked her… for not interfering sooner.
Because if she had…
there would be no descendants.
In his final request, he asked her to consume him…
so they could remain together for eternity.
Seleina nudged Marie’s shoulder impatiently.
“You’re spacing out again.”
Marie smirked faintly.
“I was just remembering one of the most memorable meals of my life.”
Seleina rolled her eyes.
“Of course, you're a glutton.”
Marie gave one last glance at Miexha before leaving and entered Jayson's room.
Jayson now rested peacefully, his fever had lowered slightly, though faint marks still lingered across his skin.
Jane sat beside him, worry evident in her eyes.
Ashel stood near the window, deep in thought.
Zaren was also present, his presence calm but watchful.
Marie entered quietly.
Jane immediately stood.
“What happened to my son?” she asked anxiously.
Marie glanced around the room.
Perfect.
Everyone necessary was present.
She reached into her pocket and removed the sealed container.
Inside was the half-eaten slice of pie.
“This was given to Miexha earlier,” Marie explained calmly.
“A gift with no harmful intention.”
“But…”
