Chapter 158
Wov Mansion
Zaren lifted Anita's suitcase with one hand while guiding her carefully down the front steps.
Zatariel had already stepped ahead, reaching for the car door.
"Let me drive" he said automatically.
But before he could open the driver's side-
Zaren spoke firmly.
"We will use Asha's car instead."
Zatariel blinked in confusion but nodded and moved toward the vehicle he and Asha had arrived in.
He pulled the door open-
-and immediately stumbled backward.
His face drained of color.
Zaren's instincts reacted instantly.
He moved forward, catching his son by the shoulder.
"What is it?"
Zatariel could not speak.
He simply raised a trembling hand and pointed inside the car.
Asha hurried closer.
The moment she saw-
"Aaaaaaaahhhhhh!!!!"
she screamed.
The driver sat motionless behind the wheel.
His eyes were still open.
A deep wound marked his neck.
Dark blood had dried along his collar and soaked into the seat.
He had been dead for some time.
Inside the Wov estate.
Inside what should have been one of the safest locations in the country.
Anita gasped softly-
then collapsed.
Zaren caught her immediately before she could fall.
"Asha," Zatariel said urgently, pulling her into a protective embrace.
"I'm sorry... I didn't know..."
"I don't know how this happened..."
His voice trembled with guilt.
"It happened inside our house..."
Asha's hands shook.
Her driver...
someone she had known for years...
gone without warning.
Zaren quickly activated his communication device.
"Ashel," he said sharply once the call connected.
"The enemy has already moved."
"The children have seen something they should not have."
His voice lowered slightly as Zadriana began crying in confusion.
Zatariel quickly covered his little sister's eyes, gently pressing her face against his shoulder.
"Dria... don't look."
Asha wiped her tears, trying to steady herself.
She overheard Zaren mention her father.
"Does... my father have enemies?" she asked quietly.
Zaren nodded once.
It was not entirely untrue.
But the reality was far more complicated than she imagined.
And far more dangerous.
He could not explain everything.
Zaren's expression hardened as he issued orders through his communicator.
"Lock down the entire estate."
