( Olympus, Great Hall)
" Tell me, Apollo, did you really kill the boy we now know as Python 2400 years ago?" Athena asked, as the crowds murmured and whispered to each other, wondering why the de facto hero and slayer of Python, Apollo, had been put on a sort of trial before them all. It hadn't been long after Athena let go of her offer of protection for later, that she had asked her brother to step onto the podium for questioning.
The sun god hadn't been less obvious in his enjoyment, as he saw this as a chance to bring up his now greatest achievement, besides making a bunch of plants out of his "lovers"." Must I really answer, sister dear, you wrote it down in your little notebook, did you not?" He smiled at her, leaning on the air like it was a solid thing. She wasn't interested in his smiles and vague answers." Answer the question." He rolled his eyes at her deadpan response.
His response was like a bored diva who thought too highly of himself." Yes, I did him in, with one strung of my bow, the miserably little creature was gone." Most people knew of this story, it was one of his oldest. Though it was quite annoying for some to hear him recount it with such little care for it, like it was simply a thing he once did, that didn't matter all that much." So you killed him, then aren't you the one most at fault for bringing his father's wrath to our door?"
Thunder roared as a warning, singling Zeus was not gonna allow her to keep playing this game for long, but Athena got what she had supposedly wanted, as Apollo now felt greatly offended by her question." My fault!? My fault? How dare you, sister, how dare you. To ask me, of all people, if I am the reason behind that. Have you no shame?" She gave him a raised eye and stern look, making him wonder what she was thinking." Shame is not important, not in this context. I simply wanted to know, if you agree with my idea, that you and you alone are responsible for Typhon's rage."
" By Gaia no! I only did what was asked of me, I can not be blamed for a monster's selfish tantrum, over the simple loss of his disgusting offspring." Growling, snarls and hissing filled the room behind him, as other offspring of Typhon, now wanted to bite out the sun the gods throat. He turned to them, his voice filled with anger and disgust as he spoke." Shut it, you flighty beasts, or I shall show you all how I killed that filthy worm you call a brother!"," Silence!" Zeus commanded. Tartarus seemed to fasten his stare slightly on Apollo, giving the sun god a shiver.
" I would ask you, Son of Zeus, to refrain from making another rash statement like that in my family's presence." Even here, in an entirely different realm of the supernatural, his voice was carried like it would be in his home. Never the same, never consistent in tone, sex or race, yet the intent was clear enough as he finished." We consider your early words, highly offensive and insincere." The old god sat back in his chair, silently allowing the room to feel his malice for a brief, yet dreadful moment. The only other stupid thing in this faction, besides angering Zeus, is angering one of the primordials. No one was gonna try and save you if one of them wanted you to suffer.
Athena took the brief away and continued her interrogation." So you do not agree that it is likely your fault for the massacre committed by Typhon then?" She didn't seem deterred by Tartarus' warning, if anything she was quick to use it, to make the crowd silent and most importantly, make Apollo have to answer in a more polite and direct manner." I.. I do not agree to the notion it was my fault alone, others had given him reasons to do so as well, that would have made him go on a rampage. Happy now?" He didn't look at the most offended party, only at Athena who nodded, satisfied for now.
" Yes, you may return to your seat."," Gladly." As he sat down, Athena wasted no time going on another rant and a well thought out one at that, explaining that by most of their own laws, Typhon had been entirely in his own right to do what he did, not that what he had done needed to affect others than themselves. His only legitimate reason for being imprisoned, beyond being as powerful Cronos in his hay day, thus triggering some trauma with the older Olympians, was his unreasonable decimation of other factions which had nothing to do with Python's murder. On these reasons and these alone, Athena made a brave statement that nearly shocked all of the people gathered in the room to their very core.
