Chapter 27

(Katniss POV)
We're about 25 minutes from district twelve, that's when I hear the loud buzzing of hover crafts above us. Peeta hears it to he speeds up the jeep past it's maximum if speed, the car starts to swerve side to side from the speeds. Peeta slows down just a little bit to keep control over the vehicle, that's when we hear the gun shots. Some bullets hit the wind shield making it shatter into a million pieces. I hear a gun shot go through the metal roof if the car, not even a millisecond after I hear this a searing pain burns across my shoulder. I scream in pain. My heart beats a million times a second, each beat ringing in my ear. I feel warm blood running down my arm. Peeta's eyes widen at my scream, he speed of the car past the limit again. I'm starting to blackout from hyperventilating, and I'm freaking out. Peeta slows and let's 3 bullets hit the jeep, he let's go of the gas pedal, and let's his body go limp, I catch on and do the same. I'm in a position, where I can see Finnick, Annie, Gale, Johanna, and Finn's jeep go by. They get one mile up, before doing the same. I watch the hovercraft sit for a second to make sure we are dead. The hovercraft goes higher in the air, then speeds off. I recover from hyperventilating, and sit back up Peeta jumps out off the jeep, I just sit there still going into shock I guess, I can't move, I can barely take a breath without feeling a quick burst of pain. Peeta grabs me out of the car, he brushes the glass from the window shield off of me he picks me up like I weigh nothing, he runs faster than I have ever seen him run, he runs the full mile to the other jeep in 4 min, and almost rips the trunk of the jeep open he uses this small handle to pull the carpet floor of the jeeps trunk up revealing the guns that Gale gave us, he grabs a first aid kit out, and closes the compartment, I see the small key hole that Gale had to unlock to get to the guns, he must have left it open for if he needed more bullets. Peeta lays me down on the jeeps trunk floor, he looks at my arm, he decides to explain everything that he's doing. "Ok Katniss I can still see the bullet, I'm going to have to use tweezers to get it out." I brace myself for the pain, he gets the bullet out in a split second, trying to be quick, so it doesn't hurt as much. I scream in agony my whole body squirms from the pain. Finnick, Annie, Johanna, and Gale come out of the jeep quickly trying to help. "Gale you sterilize the wound, and I'll stitch it, Peeta comfort her, and don't let her move when we stitch her up," Finnick says. Finn cries probably from the sound of gun shot, and my screams, Annie runs to comfort him. Gale gently touches my shoulder so he can put some anti-bacterial thing in the wound with out causing more pain. I clench my teeth, and ball my hands into fists to keep from screaming. Now it's Finnick's turn to stitch me up, this will be fun, I think sarcastically.
