Chapter 42

(Peeta POV)
The walk with Johanna is silent, she's so selfish if she didn't know the rebel plans she probably would have killed the alliance while we were asleep. "I know that was a stupid thing to say back there, but I just want to find food and shelter," she says. "Hold on," I exclaim excitedly, "you like him!" I can't see her face on the dark, but I know it's bright red. "Who," she questions, but she knows who it is. "Gale, that's why your angry," I say with the biggest smile on my face, because I know that means she finally found someone she loves, but then my smile quickly leaves as I realize he could be dead. "Johanna if anyone could get out of that hovercraft it would be Gale." "Or they could have him chained up and hijacking his mind, and making him want to kill me," she says angrily. Silence follows we're almost to where Haymich should be. I can just barely see a train car when she breaks the silence. "Sorry," is all she says. I don't respond, but I know Katniss would have given her a bloody nose if she was here. We see Haymich moving around walking around, or more like stumbling. He's pouring something in a tight circle around him. Then he lights a match and I realize what's about to happen, I start running towards him, and grab the matches away before he burns himself to death. I grab one of his arms, and Johanna grabs the other then we start walking back to Annie, Finn, and Katniss. We're almost half way back when I see movement to my right. Two people appear, a flashlight turns on and I'm blinded by it. The flashlight turns off, and I get my vision back enough to see Johanna and one of the people kissing. I realize it's Gale and smile at the two, I squint through the darkness to try to see who the other person is, I realize it's Cressida and smile. We greet each other and start to keep walking towards Annie and Katniss, I hear someone crying and start freaking out. What if they got Katniss.
