Chapter 14

Annie POV) (rewind)
Gale was entirely in love with me. I could tell by the way he looked at me, he was next to me everyday helping by getting stuff from the market, cleaning my house, helping feed Fin, and playing with him in the nursery, that Gale helped build. I didn't know if I could love another after Finnick. I cry every night, from the empty spot on the bed, to the missing seat at the table, I miss him so much. Gale always wants to fill those spots. He wants to have dinner with me every night, and sometimes even tries to kiss me, but I always turn my head away so he can only kiss my cheek. I can't love him, I can like him, but I can't love him. I know I can't raise Fin on my own, so basically my life is a mess. I'm scared about living in district 2 also. There's a whole lot of people here, even after we bombed them during the war. The whole district is huge. I get home at 11 from Emily's party I already ate dinner at the party, but I see the lights on in my house, and I can see Gale making what looks like a dessert. He's so sweet. I know he was not the nicest person to Katniss, but he's totally changed since Prim. I know he's been scarred for life from that. I walk in, say a quick hello to him, then I set  Fin in his crib. Fin is my little angel he has the same ocean eyes as Finnick I start tearing up as I look around at the nursery. Fin is almost 1 just another month. I walk back to the kitchen, Gale has set the table. I sit down, and realize this is like a date my muscles tense then release I just wish Finnick would come, and scoop me up, and kiss me. I take a deep breath in my nose then exhale through my mouth to hold in the tears. I look down at my plate, and see a brownie, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream next to it. Gale starts talking about random things I tune out, I catch him ask me how my day went I tell him everything, then it's his turn to talk again. I tune him out, that's when the phone rings I look at the clock, it's 5 AM we talked almost all night. I put the phone on speaker, it's Katniss, she announces to Gale and I that Peeta almost passed tonight. Gale's face is sad surprisingly, I thought he hated Peeta, but apparently he doesn't care anymore. After the call I decide to go, and visit them in 3 days. I tell Gale my decision his seam grey eyes widen with fear. "No!" He almost shouts not loud enough for Fin wake up luckily. "Why," I ask. "Because there's a planed uprising 2, here, I overheard it when I was patrolling near the market, they won't let anyone out of the district that's why we're sneaking under the fence at 6 tonight."
