Chapter 54

(Katniss POV)
I wake up in a small room, I'm on a bed, under the covers with some super comfortable pajamas on. My eyes widen, where's Peeta, where's Peeta where's Peeta, my mind releasing it over and over. I run out of the surprisingly unlocked door. I look out a window seeing I'm above the clouds on a hovercraft. I run down a hall I start yelling, "Peeta?!" No answer. I turn a corner running into Plutarch Heavensbee. I give him a confused look but he quickly starts explaining the situation starting with my biggest concern; "Peeta's alive, don't worry we're on our way to 13 we had to rescue you guys through nets so the other hovercrafts wouldn't get suspicious, we had to knock you guys out with smoke bombs so you guys would calm down, and not injure yourselves." "Where's Peeta?"
Plutarch bites his lip thinking of what he'll say, this freaks me out so much, I widen my eyes, but he sees and finally responds with the brutally honest truth. "Peeta suffered shattered ribs when we got him out of the net, we also noticed he had a still healing wound where his are shattered, the wound appeared have been infected for a while, if we wouldn't have checked it the infection would have gotten into his bloodstream killing him." "Where is he?" Plutarch starts walking down the hall, I follow him. We turn a corner coming to a big glass wall, on the other side is Peeta unconscious, a few surgeons surrounding him, I can see one of them putting the last few stitches back on his side, they bandage him up, give him a small dose of morphine, and then wake him up, the walls aren't sound prove so I can just barely hear him say to the surgeon, the second he wakes up, "Where's Katniss?" I start running searching for the door into the room, I find it quickly. I run right into his room, he try's to get off the operating table, but I can see pain in his eyes with every movement. I quickly kiss him, when I pull away I tell him, "We're  going to be okay." He smiles at me, I tell him everything Plutarch told me, after that someone walks in with a wheelchair for Peeta, he refuses, and gets up himself, his expression fills with a painful grimace. We slowly walk to the cafeteria and sit with everyone. Annie, Finnick, Gale, Johanna, and Beetee are all there. Peeta asks Beetee if he identified the code, in which he responds, "The code was just for the hovercraft they were flying, they seem to like a certain one I guess." We shrug it off as nothing and go back up to a room, and fall asleep.
