Rose on Fire

Chapter 75

(Johanna POV)
I wake up shaking, rain pours outside of the shelter, water drips in through the cracks. Revolver is gone. I run out of the shelter and look to the beginning of the woods, I can just make out Revolver's red tail disappearing into the darkness, clouds cover the early morning sun. I chase after Revolver, thorns in bushes cut deep into me legs, I run faster and faster after the red tail of the fox, even though the fox is only walking, and I running after it, I get no closer, nor farther. I run faster and faster, yet no closer do I come to the fox, so I stop, and so does the fox, so I run again, the fox walks. After a few minutes we enter a clearing, I know I will be able to get her now. We walk over burn tree's and dead leaves, I assume we are in the burnt part of the forest, but I look around to see a large crater in the middle of the clearing, district thirteen. Only this crater is much larger than the original bombing, this crater is deep enough to reach all the bunkers. The fox drops to the ground, I take my chance, and catch up to it, the fox is dead, blood covering every strand of fur, like it's been drowned in blood. A tear slips away for the loss of my friend, but I leave her, and travel on to look for survivors, I look around. I reach the crater, and jump onto one of the sides, slipping down to the darker bottom, I can barely see anything, then the clouds part, I see before me a pile of bodies, covered in  blood, still dripping wet. I look closer at the faces, the first person I see is my mother, then I see my two brothers, and my father. Then I look around the pile, and see Katniss, Peeta, Finnick, Annie, and some of my friends form district 7, who I can barely remember their names from when I was young. I try to climb out of the crater, but it's to steep, I hear a laugh above me, I look up to see Snow dangling Gale by his neck with a rope, Snow pulls out a knife and puts it in front of Gale's neck, I kneel on the ground looking away, eyes closed, I scream, trying to escape this awful place. Blood drips on my shoe. Then everything goes black.
