Chapter 39

(Finnick POV)
Annie's red hair flows behind her as she runs. She's so beautiful, and I enjoy every second of her company. I'm getting used to Finn. It's hard though when you are basically to close to death, the doctors don't even try to call your family. I made a miraculous recovery last month, and used all my mental strength to wait until I can see Annie in person. She's just starting to truly believe this is all real. I smile at her I start to slow I notice the trees are thinning, but I know the hovercraft will be expecting us to be running. She looks up into my eyes with a smile taking over her lips, happy to be alive, I stop, and she stops as well, I kiss her softly, I look into her bright hazel eyes, I here a gun shot, I take in my last good breath,a sharp pain pierces my left shoulder, blood quickly spreads and I know the person on that hovercraft missed his target instead of my shoulder I know he must have just scraped my heart, good enough to make it fatal, I know I only have minutes left, my knees weaken bringing me to the ground, Annie quickly sets Finn down, her hands shake she try's to stop the blood, but at the touch I'm nearly screaming, the  adrenaline starts to kick in, and it doesn't hurt as much, Annie is screaming louder than I've ever heard, like she's sending a beacon, or a warning. I start using my breaths, "Annie I love you, your beautiful, take good care of Finn, I love you," I say, with each word my voice becomes a soft whisper. "No your not leaving me again, your not," Annie cries. "I keep my promises, and I will always be by your side, alive or dead," I say my voice shaking. Through the trees I can see the claw coming and focus on my way out of this labyrinth of death, "Annie, this is what I want you to do, get Finn, and run that way," I point in the direction in which, Peeta and Katniss ran, "Johanna is in the bushes that way," I point to where the bushes are, "Get her and run, don't stop, and look for low hanging tree branches, and clearings." "Okay so everything Peeta said," she says jokingly, I manage a quick laugh through the pain, my shirt is covered in blood. "The claws going to pick me up, and their going to help me, okay?" "Okay." "I love you." "I love you too." I look into her hazel eyes one last time in the setting sun, her red hair shinning, then she's gone. The claw comes and picks up me up, one of my arms hang from the claw, blood dripping quickly off my fingertips, black starts to cloud my vision, I use my last seconds of consciousness to look around the room, a group of medics wait for me and start going to work, I see Gale and Beetee unconscious with and cuffs on. A medic starts to cut my shirt off so they can start to work on keeping me alive, but at this point I truly wish I was dead, but I decide to try to stay for Finn, and for Annie. I relax all my muscles letting my head fall to the side, I close my eyes and let the darkness of unconsciousness take over.
