“You have some kind of virus… we don’t know what it is. And that being said, we don’t know if it has a cure….”
No one spoke for what seemed like an hour.
Kamie stood up.
“You’re stupid. And un-educated,” her voice was raising, “I have really bad food poisining and you’re telling me that I’m going to die!? You don’t know anything!” She was crying now.
“Mrs. Roe it’s just-”
“No! You know nothing! You’re an idiot! No! Shut up! No!”
“Kamie.” I stepped in, wrapping my arms around her, making me bawl. Her fragile, small body shook in my grasp, her ice cold skin brushing mine.
“Don’t.” I said.
“But….” She started, but then crumpled in my arms to the floor. We just sat there.
