Chapter 40: You’re Beautiful

I didn’t have the strength to push anymore, even though they kept telling me to. Doctors are stupid. I’d learned that when a specialist told me I was dying when I was actually pregnant.

Keene kept encouraging me. “Shut up! You are not helping!” I snapped.

Pain radiated all over my system, and with my last push of strength, it was over.

“It’s a boy!” A voice shouted.

Keene kissed my forehead. Clamorous crying filled the room, and I couldn’t help but smile.

He was my boy. My baby boy.

“You did it!” Keene cheered.

I couldn’t see our baby, but I really wanted to.

I took a deep breath, drifting away.

The doctor said, “You don’t have much time to relax; the other baby’s on the way.”

My eyes snapped open. Did he say other baby? As in two? Two babies?!

I shot up. “I only ordered one!” I objected.

“You didn’t know it was twins? Oh, well. This has never happened before.”

I looked to Keene; he was just as stunned as I was. “Twins.” He muttered, completley flabbergasted.

“Okay Kamie, start pushing.”

Jillian

Teddy, Kamie’s mom, and I sat in the waiting room as I anxiously chewed my nails.

My best friend was giving birth in another room, and her husband was with her. I wanted to be there.

Just then, Keene rounded the corner.

We all stood up at the same time. Keene smiled, “Come see.”

And that was all he said.

We followed him forward, made a left, walked through a hallway, and were there.

Kamie was lying in bed, holding a baby swaddled in a yellow blanket.

Kamie

This was the first time I held my baby boy. He was breathtakingly beautiful. His eyes, which were wide open and alert as he looked around, were the deepest blue-so blue that they glowed against his skin, his perfect skin. His hair resembled mine; a beautiful blonde, falling in soft curls on the back of his neck. His beautiful thick eyelashes were lengthened well. I looked to my left and saw Jill, Mom, and Teddy approaching me; Keene went into the other room.

Jill, Mom, and even Teddy gasped when they saw my angelic boy.

“Who’s this?” Jill cooed.

I smiled, “This is Holden Kurt Franklyn. Holden for my dad, Kurt for Keene’s dad.”

Everyone came closer to stare at him.

“Oh, and we have a surprise.” I added. “Keene!”

Keene slowly trudged into the room, carrying our girl in a pink blanket.

Jill looked at Holden, then to our girl, then back to Holden, then at our girl again.

“There are two?!” She shouted.

“Shh! Yeah.” I chuckled.

“What’s her name?” Jill asked, noticing her. She scampered towards her.

“Chase Rose.” Keene replied, prideful.

“Why?” Teddy asked.

I began, “Rose because of your last name.” He smiled at that.

“And why Chase? Isn’t that a dude’s name?”

I looked at Jillian this time, “It’s Jill’s middle name.”

We smiled at each other.

“Chase and Holden.” Jill said to herself. “I like it.”

“They’re beautiful.” Mom stated.

“Yes,” Teddy agreed.

Mom pulled Jill and Teddy closer to her, “We’re gonna give you guys some privacy.” They all scooted out the door, still facing us.

I patted the edge of my bed for Keene. He layed next to me, Chase in his arms; Holden in mine.

That was the also the first time I saw her.

She had her father’s gorgeous chocolate brown eyes and beautiful thick back hair. She was the most beautiful girl I’d ever seen.

I rested my head on Keene’s chest.

“I’m exhausted.” I stated.

He replied by kissing my cheek. I nuzzled my face further into his chest. “I love you.”

“I love you, too.”
