You took a deep breath and closed your eyes, attempting to calm yourself. Your little daughter Iris grabs your hand and squeezes it reassuringly.
"Are you ok Mommy?" She asks cutely.
"Yes princess, just nervous." You wink at her.
She gives you a confused look "Why?"
You laugh slightly at her adorable expression, she looks so much like him. "We're gonna go and see your Daddy today!"
She gasps "Really!?!"
You nod and giggle, pointing out the car window to the house you were now parked outside, and have been for the past five minutes. "Yeah, we're here now!"
Iris squeals excitedly "I wanna meet Daddy! Is he nice?"
You nod "He was...Im hoping he still is. C'mon princess, lets go and see if he's in!" You smile widely at her and jump out of the car. Iris unclips her seat belt and struggles to push her car door open, but once she does she runs to your side and holds your hand, standing behind you. You walk nervously up the path way towards the front door. You knock and wait, Iris hides herself behind you completely, she's as shy as you are when meeting new people. The door swings open, and there he stands. As beautiful as he was the day he left you.
"(Y/N)!?!" Kellin stutters nervously.
You nod "Hey Kellin..."
"It's been a while..." He says awkwardly.
You nod again "Yeah it has. Look, I know you probably dont particularly want to see me ever again, but thats not why Im here. Im not here to win you back. I just wanted you to meet someone..."
Kellin raises an eyebrow "I dont want to meet your new boyfriend!"
You laugh slightly and shake your head "Dont worry, Im not that mean! It's someone else. She's very shy and there's only one way you can get her to come out."
Kellin nods "What do I have to do?"
"Sing the chorus of Iris, its what she listens to before she goes to sleep every night." You laugh slightly.
Kellin clears his throat " And I dont want the world to see me,

'Cause I dont think that they'd understand,

When everything's meant to be broken,

I just want you to know who I am. " He sings perfectly, taking your breath away. Iris lets go of your hand and runs at Kellin, clinging to his leg without saying a word to him. Kellin laughs and picks her up, holding her on his hip "Is she yours?" You just nod, unable to believe how much she looks like him. "She's beautiful. What's your name princess?"
She blushes slightly at his compliment "I-Iris..."
Kellin smiles widely "Thats an awesome name! How old are you?"
Iris smiles shyly "Five..."
His eyebrows furrow "Five? B-But we...we broke up five..."
You gulp and nod, staring down at the floor "She's yours, thats why I wanted you to meet her..."
Kellin gasps "Come inside, we need to talk about this."
You nod "O-Ok." Kellin steps aside, allowing you into the home you used to live in. You stroll through to the living room and sit on his couch, he follows you and puts Iris down, she runs over to you.
"Mommy, can I play on your phone?" She asks, flashing you the exact grin Kellin used to whenever he asked for something.
You nod and smile, fishing for your phone and headphones before handing them to her "Sure thing, here ya go princess!"
"Thanks Mommy!" She puts your earphones in and runs over to an armchair, one that you and Kellin used to cuddle up on and watch movies together. Kellin comes and sits beside you.
"H-How!?!"
You sigh "After I moved out I found my own place, but I started putting on a hell of a lot of weight. You know me and how I always used to complain about the fat going to my legs?" Kellin nods, you continue "Well this time it didnt, it all went to my stomach, and that worried me. I took a pregnancy test, and it came out as positive. I was still depressed over our breakup at the time, I hadnt even noticed anyone, let alone had sex with anyone but you, so I knew you were the dad. I took a DNA test and your name is on her birth certificate."
"Who helped you? Raising her, I mean." Kellin questions further.
"Nobody. I raised her completely on my own. With your help of course, your voice always calmed her when she was crying. From the age of two she was able to recite lyrics back to me. Whenever she gets upset, I just play her your music and she calms down. I remember I'd put the Iris music video on the TV and she was sitting on the couch, she lifted a little finger to point at you when you came on screen and said 'Daddy!' and that was her first word." You laugh slightly and shake your head "She's so much like you. She has an amazing singing voice already! I honestly dont know how I coped when she started talking, she sounds so much like you, not her voice, but her choice of words."
"What do you mean? Why wouldnt you have coped with her being like me?" Kellin asks curiously.
You sniffle "My child is exactly the same as her father who had recently broken my heart and told me he didnt love me anymore, imagine living with the fear that your daughter would say the same thing because she's so much like the man who said it first!"
Kellin sighs "Im so sorry (Y/N), I really am."
You shake your head "Dont Kellin, Im not here for an apology. Im here to ask you one question and one question only: Do you or do you not want to see your daughter regularly?"
Kellin nods and looks down at the floor "Yeah, I do. But y'know, before I saw Iris, I really thought...well I hoped...I hoped that you were coming to get me back. I really fucking did."
"Why? So you could shoot me down and laugh at me?" You accuse.
Kellin shakes his frantically "No! The complete opposite! I've been missing you everyday for the past five years, regretting what I said more than anything! I've missed the feeling of you cuddling with me on that arm chair, I've missed hearing your laugh and causing that gorgeous smile to appear on your already beautiful face, I've missed you so fucking much, and if you'd come to get me back I wouldnt have to miss those things anymore."
"A-Are you saying you want me back!?!" You ask, in complete shock.
Kellin nods and sniffles "But it doesnt matter, thats not what you're here for."
Iris pulls out the earphones "I've been listening to everything. Daddy, Mommy loves you! A lot! A lot a lot! She never stops talking about you! She's always telling me about things you did together, jokes you shared, and then a look will flash across her face, one that I've seen a lot, one that only appears on her face when she's about to cry. She misses you, all the time! And she does want you back, she just doesnt think you want her back so she keeps it a secret! So just kiss her! Right now! Kiss her!"
"Ok hold on missy why do you feel the need to embarrass Mommy like tha-" You start, but you're cut off when Kellins lips connect to yours. You instantly kiss back, and only break apart as you hear Iris squealing.
"I never stopped loving you, will you take me back?" Kellin asks breathlessly.
You giggle and nod "Definitely!"
"Also, in reply to your question, yes, I would like to see my daughter regularly, but I'd actually like to see you regularly too, if thats ok, so do you wanna move back in with me?" He suggests eagerly with that gorgeous grin on his face.
Your jaw drops "Hell yeah!"
Kellin laughs slightly and turns to Iris, he opens his arms up for her "C'mere princess!" Iris squeals and jumps off the armchair, running over to him and into his arms. Kellin snuggles into her blonde hair and you just sit there, smiling at the two of them, when suddenly Kellin grabs your hand and pulls you into the cuddle.
