Chapter Twelve Alex’s P.O.V I know I shouldn't do this. Zeke was jealous, and now I was going to make everything worse, but after the way he was acting about the whole Jet thing he deserved it. To explain this lightly, the shorts I’m now wearing are way to short, and the top I’m wearing it just a little too exposed of certain areas. I had dressed enough that I couldn’t be considered a slut. “What are you doing?”   I spun around to see Harriet staring down at me. “Nothing,” I answered. “Usually I’d be all for the sexy dressing, but even my boyfriend couldn’t keep your eyes off you,” Harriet told me. “Well, I’m not dressing to impress your boyfriend,” I said calmly. “You wouldn’t be dressing to impress Austin then,” she muttered. I turned to face her and what I saw was a pretty serious face. “How do you know he’s here?” I asked her slowly. “I saw him in the office, “she answered. “So he’s definitely here?” I breathed. “Yes,” Harriet nodded.   It scared me. I wasn’t going to lie. The thought of him, the thought of everything he’s ever done made me shiver. He had manipulated Blake, he had practically raped Cassie and every other girl in my year, and I was still left. He still hadn’t got me, and I was almost positive he wouldn’t give up with only one to go. “We’ll all protect you from him,” Harriet told me. “I know you don’t want us to... but even if we don’t, Zeke will.” I sighed and leant against the lockers. Harriet looked like she was waiting for my reaction, and to be honest so was I. I think I was... grateful, relieved. I knew that Zeke would protect me, and I felt as long as he was there, Austin wouldn’t get me.

“Alex?” Harriet asked.

I jumped slightly, but turned to look at her. Eventually I just nodded and then took off down the hall before Harriet could say anything.

I didn’t know how to feel. I was scared of Austin, but felt safe with Zeke... it was like I was falling back into my same old pattern all over again. I wasn’t paying attention to anything around me, so when I felt someone knock my shoulder, I didn’t take it well.

“OW, watch where you’re-,” I started to say, but stopped dead in my tracks.

Austin. He stood there, in front of me, now a big smirk on his face. I was frozen with fear, my hands kind of shaking.

“Well, if it isn’t Miss Alexandra?” he said with that evil taunt of a voice that still made me shiver.

Of course he hasn’t changed... he never was going to. “Austin,” I breathed.

“You seem to be even more beautiful then I remember,” he told me, walking closer to me.

His hand suddenly touched mine and I flinched. “Don’t touch me,” I said, pulling my hand away.

He smiled slightly. “You have no reason to be scared of me.”

“Just don’t,” I muttered.

“Alex?”

I turned to see Jet. Yes, thank you, God, send someone to save me.

“Come on,” I said, pushing him along.

“I’ll see you around then,” Austin told me.

“Are you okay?” Jet asked me, as I made him walk extremely fast down the hall.

“I’m fine,” I muttered.

“Who is that guy?” he asked.

I breathed for a second. “He’s a sick, malicious, all-round, creepy kind of guy. Stay away from him... don’t even talk to him.”

“I’m confused,” Jet said. “He’s not another ex, is he?”

“Oh, god no,” I answered. “I wouldn’t let that guy touch me. Just please.... don’t worry about it, it’s nothing.”

“Okay, noted... I’ll stay away,” Jet nodded.

“Thank you,” I breathed.

Zeke’s P.O.V

“Where’s Alex?” I asked, rushing up to Harriet.

“Don’t know, I talked to her before,” Harriet said. “But I don’t think you should go see her today.”

“Why?” I frowned.

“She’s… let’s just say it’ll be even more impossible to keep your eyes off her,” Harriet told me.

I was still slightly confused but I shook my head and went back to focusing. “I need to see her… does she know Austin’s here?”

“Yeah, she does,” Harriet nodded. “I spoke to her about it… Zeke, she’s really scared, and when I told her that you’d protect her she didn't object… for once.”

“She really must be scared,” I muttered.

“Tara thinks she’s playing a game with you… trying to toy with your emotions,” Harriet told me calmly.

“Okay, now I’m really confused,” I whispered.

“This whole Jet thing, it makes you jealous… and I think she likes making you annoyed,” Harriet shrugged.

“I’m not jeal-,” I started to say, but then say Harriet’s expression. “Okay, maybe I don’t like the thought of her being with someone else, but a game?”

“Yeah,” Harriet nodded, “and I think you should play too.”

“How?” I asked.

Harriet curled her lips together for a second and glanced around and then smiled.

“Kassidy! Come over here,” Harriet said.

“No, Harriet… don’t you dare,” I muttered.

“Oh, come on… just because she likes you,” Harriet hinted. “Beside… pretending to flirt with Kassidy will not only make Alex jealous… but if she does get jealous then you’ll know she still feels something for you.”

I’ve got to admit that was smart… but wrong at the same time… right, but oh, so very wrong.

“Hey, Harriet, what’s up?” she asked lightly.

“Arr… you two need to talk, so I’m going to go… see Kane,” she said, as she spotted him.

Harriet ran off before I could stop her, leaving me along with Kassidy. Great… how do I even start this conversation?”

“Um,” I muttered. “Harriet told me that… you, kind of like me and all.”

“Oh, oh…” she breathed. “Zeke, I am so sorry. I mean, I know there’s no chance, you’re still in love with Alex, I get that-.”

“It’s okay,” I interrupted her. “I’m glad you understand.”

She sighed and nodded. “Good, I’m glad.”

“Um, I do need your help with something though, and you don’t have do it… it’s a lot to ask,” I said.

Kassidy gave me a look, but she seemed to be too interested to let it go.

“No, I’m listening,” she said slowly.

“Alex has set me out to make me jealous, and… as much as it’s bad to sink down to her level, but I need to know if I can make her jealous… if she can feel anything for me anymore,” I told her.

“That’s… reasonable,” Kassidy admitted. “You want to know if chasing after her is worth it, right?”

“Pretty much… I know it’s sad and pathetic, but…I need to know,” I told her.

“It’s not sad… and I’m more than happy to help,” she said.

“Thank you, it means a lot to me,” I said slowly.

“It’s no problem.”

“And I promise you don’t have to kiss me or anything to make her jealous, just…” I said slowly.

“Flirt with you,” she nodded. “Don’t worry… I know what I’m doing.”

“Thanks.”

She smiled at me slightly and leant against the locker. I was sinking down to her level of this little game she had created, but to be honest I was kind of excited about it. I had a feeling that I could win.
