Chapter Ten

“Okay... go back to how you ended up in the pool,” I laughed at the story Jet was telling me.

“It wasn’t my fault,” he rolled his eyes. “I serious thought it was like glass or something so I tried walking on... it didn’t help that I was drunk,” he smiled.

I laughed and shook my head slightly. “Well, that’ll teach you... there is no way you can walk on water. Lol.”

“You didn’t just say lol, did you?” he asked.

I smiled slightly. “I might’ve.”

“I thought it died,” he said.

“Maybe I’m trying to bring it back,” I said mysterious.

We reached Jet’s new locker and I held my hands like I was presenting it, but then stopped. No... really?

“What?” Jet asked, noticing my sudden drop in enthusiasm.

“Nothing,” I muttered.

“I’ve known you, for what? An hour.... and I can already tell when something is wrong,” he said.

“It’s just.... you’re locker is next to someone I know,” I answered.

“Someone how?” he questioned me.

“An ex boyfriend, okay?” I muttered.

“Him?” Jet asked, pointing across the hall.

“What?” I asked surprised following his finger.

Zeke wasn’t following me was he? Well, he was there, staring at me across the hall... a kind of disgusted look on his face to tell you the truth. I rolled my eyes slightly and then turned back to Jet.

“Ignore him,” I said.

Jet looked over at me. “He didn’t look happy.”

“He’s just annoyed at me about something I said... okay, about a lot of things I’ve said,” I corrected myself.

“Well, what happen?” Jet asked.

I gave him a look. “As you pointed out I’ve known you for an hour... isn’t it a little soon to be diving into the mistakes of our lives?”

“Well, I’m going to find out sooner or later,” he shrugged.

I sighed. “Okay, fine... Zeke...the one death staring you, he’s my ex... We dated about a month back now... he lived here, then moved to Australia.... we tried long-distance, it didn’t work, so I broke it of... now he thinks there’s something wrong with me and he won’t leave me alone.”

“Is there something wrong?” Jet asked.

I gave him a look. “No... I broke up with him because I couldn’t do it anymore... simple.”

“But now he’s back....” Jet said slowly.

“You should not be trying to give me advice yet... we’ve only known each other an hour,” I said, leaning against Zeke’s locker. “Right, open the locker.”

Jet gave me a look and then entered the code into his locker and then opening it. He put something in it, shut it and then turned to me.

“That could’ve been harder,” I muttered.

He rolled his eyes. “I know this may come off weird... but your last name?”

“Rodes,” I said quickly. “Nothing wrong with knowing my last name. What?”
