Chapter Twenty
After probably the most dramatic thanksgiving in the world things started to fall apart. Tara wasn’t home much; she was usually at Blake’s sorting things out there, and that obviously wasn’t going well since it had almost been a week. Jet had disappeared off the face of the planet, and he wasn’t answering my calls. Claire and Pommy managed to sort themselves out
My father didn’t let me get away so easily. He decided to that he’d crack down about not following my grounding rules properly, as I had snuck out a couple of times, and used my phone, so I got an extra week added onto my punishment.
So now I was bored since I was stuck at home most of the time. I was practically asleep on the kitchen counter when Pommy walked in.
“What you doing?” he asked me.
“Sleeping... kind of,” I answered.
“Don’t you have a bed for that?” he asked me softly.
“She does,” Claire said, walking in.
Claire walked over to Pommy who put his arm around her and Claire’s waist and kissed her head.
“Wow, you two seriously seem to have made up,” I said.
“He decided that it wasn’t going to let it ruin us,” Claire shrugged. “Which is why we need to talk to you.”
“Wow, what did I do?” I asked, sitting up.
“Nothing,” Claire rolled her eyes. “It’s about us... well, we kind of need a favour.”
“Why do I not trust those faces?” I asked them slowly.
Claire rolled her eyes and then leant against the bench. “We’re getting married.”
“You’re... what?!” I yelled.
Claire just smiled at me and nodded slightly and nodded. I let out a squeal and jumped and ran around the kitchen bench and hugged Claire.
“You’ve got to be joking,” I said, looking at them. “Why?”
“Why wait? Why love each other... and who knows when it could all be over for me. I’m going to live like tomorrow is the end,” Claire shrugged.
“Yet you two are still waiting to go ‘all the way,’” I muttered.
“Look, we’re telling you this because we need a favour,” Pommy said.
“Alright, I’m listening,” I said slowly.
“We... really want you to plan the wedding,” Claire said, with a slight bit of pleading in her eyes.
“Plan... the whole... the whole wedding?” I stuttered. “When do you plan to have this?”
“January,” Claire said slowly bitting her lip, “but after your birthday.”
“But that’s only two months?! You guys better not want a big wedding,” I muttered.
“So that’s a yes?” Claire asked hopefully.
I sighed. “Of course it’s a yes, you’re my sister and I love you, and if this is what you want, okay... but be warned, I’m not the best wedding organiser in the world.”
“I don’t care,” Claire said hugging me. “There’s nothing I want more in the world than for my little sister to plan my wedding. That’ll make it perfect.”
So... now I have a wedding plan, but I’m actually okay with that. I’m sure planning wedding that is happening in two months will keep my mind off things and keep me busy. Harriet showed up a couple of minutes after Claire and I stopped talking about wedding stuff. Since my dad wasn’t here, Claire let it slide that I was breaking one of the rules of being grounded.
“So,” Harriet said, slowly, sitting down.
“Don’t say it,” I muttered.
“How can I not?!” she practically screamed with me, but then spoke softly. “You slept with Zeke.”
I rolled my eyes and sat across her. She could tell from I look I wasn’t happy and I wasn’t. I did not want her to bring it up.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” she asked, slightly frustrated.
“I just didn’t tell you... okay?” I shrugged.
“That’s lame, Alex,” Harriet complained. “Come on, we made a deal. We always tell each other this kind of stuff, and I told you about Austin and Kane... you should’ve told me about Zeke?”
“This is different,” I said.
“How? Is it different because you weren’t actually allowed to because you promised you’re father... or was Zeke really bad... or you-?” she started to ramble on.
“No, okay, no,” I interrupted her. “None of those reasons.”
“So he was good?”
“Harriet!”
“Come on, Alex. I just want details. I know how special losing your virginity was to you,” she said.
“Oh, we are nothing talking about this,” I complained.
“Just tell me something... anything. Was it romantic? Like where? Did Zeke make it amazing?” she asked.
I gave her a stern look. “You’re not getting anything out of me.”
“Fine... I’ll ask Zeke then,” she said, like she had won.
“He won’t tell you,” I whispered.
“And why would that be?” she asked.
“Because I won’t tell you. It’s the one thing I know he won’t tell you,” I explained.
Harriet just rolled her eyes and I used this silence to change the subject.
“Pommy told you yet?” I asked her.
She smiled slightly. “This morning.”
“Hey... you know what I just realised?” I asked, sitting up straight.
“What?” she frowned.
“If our brother and sister get married, then we’ll be sisters,” I said.
“Oh. My. God!” Harriet said happily. “That is so cool!”
“Well, I mean we practically already are sisters,” I muttered.
“So? This is just so much cooler,” she said with a big smile.
I laughed at her. “You’re hilarious.”
“I’ll tell you what’s hilarious,” Harriet said. “You, planning the wedding.”
“It’s stupid not funny,” I said, “and that’s exactly why I’m going to make you help me.”
“I’d more than happy to,” Harriet smiled. “I mean, can you imagine yourself picking out flower arrangements... I certainly can’t.”
“Flower arrangements?”
