Chapter Forty Six
I absolutely hate hospitals. I know it’s strange, since I was like two at the time, but I do remember being the hallway of the hospital while my father yelled at the doctor telling them to do whatever they could to bring my mother back. That and my more recent memory of Claire being in here more than once.
I stood near Tara’s hospital room door, not saying anything. Harriet was inside and I was just standing there, with absolutely no idea what to do. I seriously couldn’t go in there, could I?
“I’m surprised you’re here.”
I turned to see Blake and after being scared slightly sighed.
“Hi,” I muttered. “I’m surprised I’m here too.”
“What are you doing here?” he asked.
“Harriet thought this might be a good way to try and straighten things out,” I said.
Blake laughed a little but when he saw my face stopped. “You’re serious. Wow,” he mouthed.
“I have no idea what the women is thinking,” I told him.
He smiled slightly and rocked back and forth on his feet for a moment and then looked up at me.
“So,” he said slowly.
“So?” I asked him.
“You and Zeke,” he muttered.
“What about that?” I asked him.
He rolled his eyes. “I can see, Alex. You’re my best friend; something has been going on with you and Zeke.”
I sighed and let my head hit the wall. I was getting a lot of the ‘your my best friend’ talk today. “If I tell you something can you promise me to keep that mouth of yours shut?” I asked him.
He shrugged slightly. “It’s not like I have anyone to tell anyway, no one is talking to me anyway.”
So... I told him. I needed it too. I told him everything that happened in the past two weeks... of course I didn’t straight out say everything because I’m not sure Blake wanted to know everything but he knew enough. I even explained the conversation Zeke and I had in the church, and my eventually plan... or hopes, whatever you want to call them.
“So... you were secretly seeing him?” Blake asked.
I sighed and sat down in the chair near me. “Yes. I thought it would help us get back together, since he forgave me and I finally told him I love him... but all it did was just distract me from my little pathetic life.”
Blake sighed and sat down next to me. “You’re life isn’t pathetic, and I can tell you, you’re the first person do something like this... you’re probably not the only one who has done something like this before. Besides, you obviously really love Zeke, and I don’t doubt you two would do anything for each other, but for a relationship to work, it needs to start of simple and get complicated,” Blake said. “And I can’t believe I’m telling you this, because you would say the exact same to me.”
“That’s not true,” I muttered with a smile. “I... it’s hard to know if it’ll never be complicated again...I mean what happened, with us... and then you lied... to Zeke.”
I slowly looked over to him to see his reaction and saw he was looking at me with a suggestive look and sighed.
“Not really,” he shook his head.
“Yes, you did,” I complained.
He rolled his eyes a little. “I kissed you first, you just... eventually forced yourself on me, and I gave in, but that does not cancel out the fact that you kept calling for Zeke that night.”
