Chapter Thirty Nine
I stood leaning on my lockers, books held tight at my chest as I stared blankly at the roof. I thought I’d be okay, with the secretary, with hiding that all I really wanted to do was run up to Zeke and kiss him and then tell him in I love him.
I let my head’s hit the locket again. I had Zeke seen maybe three times today, and each time I had seen him it had taken a lot of me to not do something to give us away, and Harriet... she was a pain. She wouldn’t let me out of her sight if Zeke was near me. It was driving me insane, this wasn’t far.
“Hey.”
I sprung up off the lockers, recognising the voice.
“Blake,” I breathed.
“Hmm,” he nodded.
“If Zeke catches you, I think he might just kill you,” I warned him.
“I’m surprised he didn’t kill me the other day... you know he talked to me, right?” Blake asked.
“Yeah, he told me,” I said quickly. “I was surprised you two just... talked.”
“Me too... at first I thought there was something wrong with him, but when he asked about it...I understood,” he said.
“Understood what?” I asked.
“That he still loves you and that even though what happened shouldn’t have happened, he’s glad he finally understands and he knows you two can work through anything. He’ll basically take you back in a heartbeat,” Blake told me.
I laughed slightly. “I know,” I whispered. “What about you and Tara, have you spoken?”
“No, not yet,” he said. “She sent me some stuff about the baby, but she won’t talk to me about anything.”
“Blake, I’m sorry that she had to find out,” I said.
“You were right though. They both had to find out, lying about it wasn’t a good idea,” Blake said.
“Yeah... that never ever, ever, ever ruled kind of sucked,” I muttered.
He smiled slightly. “Are you and Zeke going to...?”
“Oh, I don’t know,” I lied. “We haven’t talked since any of it. Blake, I know you and Tara will figure this out.”
“I don’t know, Alex. This time... I think I’ve lost her forever,” he whispered.
I felt guilty for Zeke, it was my fault that those two were in the middle of something they might not be able to fix, and Tara has a baby on the way. I lied down on my bed and literally didn’t more from there for ages.
“Ah, crap.”
I sat up at the sound of voice, slightly scared. I looked over to my window and for second wasn’t sure if it was actually Zeke trying to get in. When I realised it was in fact him, I sprang up. I ran over to the window and helped him in and then shut it. He brushed himself off and then looked proud that he had got in.
“What you doing here?” I asked him.
“I couldn’t help myself, Alex. Seeing you today and not being able to do anything, and then I was just thinking about you... and the next thing I know I’m in my car trying to think of a way to climb into your second story bedroom,” he told him.
“And from what I can tell, that last part went well,” I muttered.
He rolled his eyes slightly. “It was harder than it looked.”
