"Honey." Her mother murmured closing the door behind her. She looked out the window and didn't say anything.
"We adopted her. Your father thought it might help. Since, since you left." Her mother approached her slowly.
"I missed you." She continued, attempting to sit beside her. Nari held out her hand,
"Don't." Nari warned.
"Honey, I know you may feel jealous..." Her mother trailed off.
"I'm not jealous." She whispered.
"Then tell me what's wrong." Her mother pleaded, trying to sit beside her again. She stood abruptly and walked away from her mother. Her mother looked after her, hurt.
"Who's idea was it to adopt her?" She asked softly.
"Your father's. And your grandmother's." Her mother murmured.
"So it wasn't your idea?" She confirmed.
"Well, no. But now that we have her I'm so happy. I'm so, so happy." Her mother explained rapidly.
"I see. I have to go." She shook her head and began to leave. This was absurd.
"Honey please no! Please! We can be a family again. The family we were meant to have." Her mother began to cry.
"No. This is grandmother's family. She knew I would stay if I knew I had a sister. I want to stay already. But I can't live with gramma. I can't live with dad. And I can't live with you." She sighed and turned away.
"Why not? We're a team!" Her mother pleaded.
"We were a team. Until you let gramma take over your life." She shook her head.
"Why can't you just stay? I'm happy! I'm happy again! It doesn't matter how I got to be happy! I'm happy! Just please come back to me! I miss you so much." Her mother sobbed.
"You're happy right?" She kissed her mother's forehead.
"Yes. Finally. Please come back." Her mother clutched onto her desperately.
"You've been happy without me. So I can go. You don't need me. You have gramma now. And you have her family." She kissed her mother's cheek and left.
She found the little girl sitting on the bottom step. She sat down beside her.
"Hello." She sighed.
"Hi." The girl mumbled shyly.
"What's your name?" She asked.
"Yejun." Yejun mumbled.
"Take care of mom okay. You can have my room. It's the one with the nice window. The window is a good place to think, it's very relaxing. And don't let gramma tell you what to do. It's your life not hers okay?" She patted Yejun's head and stood.
"Um. Okay." Yejun mumbled awkwardly. She sighed,
"You'll understand later. Good bye."
"Will you be back?" Yejun stood and looked after her. She smiled and glanced back,
"No. Definitely not. But maybe, I'll see you somewhere else." She waved and walked back to the door.
"Nari!" Her father rushed after her.
"Nari!" Her gramma yelled roughly.
"Nari!" Her mother sobbed. She ignored them all and walked away.
"Nari." Her father followed her.
"Goodbye dad." She sighed.
"You get back in that house right now!" Her father commanded.
"I don't think so." She shrugged, walking to the bus stop.
"That is your home!" Her father yelled.
"No. Not anymore." She sat down at the bus stop and waited for the bus.
"Let me talk to her." Her gramma shooed her father away.
"Hello." She yawned.
"You're putting me in a difficult spot. I promised I wouldn't go after you again. But you're destroying my family." Her gramma growled.
"No. You did that yourself." She laughed and stood as the bus pulled into the station.
She had a new family now.
