"I'll come back later." He apologized, his voice cracking miserably.
"Suga...I..." She ran up to him and reached for his hand. He whipped his hands away from her and backed away. He felt his resolve shatter, and he just wanted to leave. He didn't care what she had to say. He just wanted to go to sleep. This was worse than when he kissed that girl. She had done that willingly, and with Rapmon of all people. But maybe it was his fault. He wasn't there for her. He dropped his hands limply. She attempted to touch him again.
"Suga I didn't-" he backed away blindly, knocking over several things.
"Please don't." He mumbled.
"Suga she didn't-" Rapmon began.
"You don't get to speak." Suga snapped at him harshly. Rapmon closed his mouth and stared at his feet.
"I'm so sorry." She breathed.
"No. No I'm sorry. I haven't been there for you. What were you expected to do? You'll be much happier. Much better cared for. And I can just come back later. Or never." His voice was soft, but harsh. He thought she loved him. But maybe not. Then why was he doing this? Now it really was for nothing wasn't it? He turned away and opened the door.
"Suga!" She yelled. He just waved and shut the door behind him. He tripped down the steps and stumbled out of the building. He just wanted to sleep.
Tears stung the backs of her eyes.
"Nari?" Rapmon murmured. She shook her head and stormed into their-her bedroom. She was so stupid! Why did she let Rapmon kiss her? Why did she invite him? She knew she still loved Suga, she was just desperate. She wrapped her hand around her necklace and squeezed it so tightly, the metal pierced her skin. He always came back. He'd come back this time. But, what incentive did he have? Suga was different. Hollow. Despite the sadness and horror in his eyes she could still see the dull hollowness. She had been skeptical about him staying, he wasn't coming back. This was different from every time she had doubted him. She had already felt detached from him. That's why she had let Rapmon kiss her in the first place. He was gone for good. If he came back it wouldn't be for her. What hurt the most was that he blamed himself for her actions. But maybe it was his fault. For keeping things from her and forgetting about her and falling out of love with her. She screeched in frustration, and ripped the necklace from her neck. She threw it randomly and it skittered along the bathroom floor. She slumped to the floor and screamed into her hands. She was so stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Why'd she break the necklace. It wasn't Suga's fault. He probably came back to work things out. She had seen his necklace glint against his collar. Her rash actions broke them apart, like she broke the necklace. She sobbed and stumbled into the bathroom. Maybe if she picked up the pieces and fixed it, maybe it'd be okay again. She scrambled in a fear induced panic to find the necklace. Where was it.
"Where is it?" She sobbed.
"Where'd it go?" She screamed. She kept screaming and sobbing the same thing again and again. Where had she thrown it? Where had it ended up? She sobbed, her body shaking and moving clumsily. She got on her hands and knees and crawled around the bathroom floor, looking for it desperately.
"Nari!" Rapmon fell down beside her.
"I can't find it." She sobbed.
"What?" He murmured soothingly, pulling her towards him. She shoved him away from her.
"My necklace! I'm so stupid!" She screamed and tried to keep looking for it through her tears. She caught a glimpse of the chain behind the toilet and tried to reach for it, but she couldn't get it.
"Why can't I just-" she broke off into a frustrated scream. Rapmon slowly, pushed her back and grabbed the necklace for her.
"Here." He whispered, pressing it into her palm. He grabbed her other hand gently.
"What happened?" He asked softly. Her palm was bleeding, blood trickling down her wrist.
"I cut myself." She sniffed. He helped her stand and cleaned the cut. Then he bandaged it and let her go.
"I'm sorry." He mumbled. She shrugged and walked to the bed. He followed her and they sat down side by side.
"It's hard for me too. He's my best friend." Rapmon offered.
"I feel like someone ripped out my heart and set it on fire." She sobbed, putting her face in her hands. He said nothing. He must feel so used. She was such a screw up. Well...at least now she could say she wasn't like her grandmother. She sobbed even harder. After a while, Rapmon gently removed her hands from her face, and pulled her into his lap. She didn't have the energy to resist. He cradled her in his arms and she pressed her face into his neck to suppress her sobs. He slowly set her down on the bed. He kissed her forehead sweetly, then he left.
Letting her cry herself to sleep.
