It had been one month since the Final Task. Everything had changed that day. Hermione remembered how nervous Harry had been going into the challenge, and then the pale face he had coming out. Nobody seemed to believe Harry. Hermione did immediately; she knew her best friend.
Dumbledore believed it, too. The news of Cedric's death went around like wildfire. His parents had been mourning and were in shock of the news of his death. Everyone had heard that people could die in the Triwizard Tournament, but not like this.
Hermione had been there for Harry. More than ever, ever since she realized that she wasn't really paying attention to him at lunch that one day. Since then, she had been with him every moment. Draco would understand. Friends had to come first. Especially Harry. Especially after everything he went through in that task.
She couldn't imagine what that could've been like for him. Harry had told her what happened and Hermione didn't want to ask him again. It seemed risky since it had only been a month.
Now, they were on summer break, going into their Fifth Year at Hogwarts in September. Harry was staying with Ron at the Burrow, and Hermione had been visiting nearly everyday.
It was a hot July afternoon, and Hermione was at her house alone since her parents were both at work. She missed her Muggle life sometimes, but nothing compared to being at Hogwarts.
Hermione had post. Predicting it was Harry, she opened up the letter and knew that wasn't Harry's handwriting. Draco's.
"H-
Haven't seen you in a while. Hope all is well.
Want to meet tomorrow at TB tmr at 1? Owl me back.
-D"
Hermione's heart sped up as she re-read the tiny letter for the tenth time. Sure, it wasn't much. But considering their circumstances of being caught and his awkwardness with expression his feelings, she knew this was a lot.
She folded up the letter and put it in her china box on her desk. Taking out a piece of parchment, Hermione wrote down that she would be at the Three Broomsticks tomorrow at 1 and sent it.
Normally, Hermione would want to sit down and think of what her Fifth Year would bring, read ahead on her books, and think of ways to visit Draco in secret. But she wouldn't allow herself to do so.
Harry and Ron were on her mind. She needed to visit them. Knowing it was humid and sticky outside, Hermione decided to stay in her Muggle clothing- shorts and a tank top.
Shortly, she arrived at the Burrow and smiled. It was such a home feeling to be in the Weasley's house.
She knocked two times and heard footsteps running towards the door.
"Hermione!" George Weasley greeted with a giant grin on his freckled face.
"Granger!" Fred finished with an equally happy smile.
Hermione grinned back and stepped inside, glad to be in the cool air. "Hi guys!"
Ron and Ginny were seated on the couch, playing a game of Wizard Chess. Ron looked extremely focused, while Ginny kept glancing out the window, barely paying attention.
