It's a Girl Thing

Hermione was still couldn't get over the fact that Viktor Krum-Viktor. Krum.- liked Hermione. Actualy liked her. She just now realized how sweaty her hands had gotten when Viktor talked to her in that accent of his.

Just thinking about him made her all excited again. She never got excited like this, at least, not over a boy. The last time she had been this excited was when she found she was a wizard and got to learn about a whole new world. Did other girls get this way when something like this happened? Hermione didn't have many girlfriends, and she couldn't really talk about her feelings for Viktor to Ron and Harry.

She ran into the Gryffindor Common Room and went towards her classmates. Once she though she was out of earshot, she let out a huge squeal. Not only would she have a date for the Yule Ball, but she would have a hot one.

Lavender Brown, who was behind her bed frame, gave her a look. "What is it, Hermione?"

Oh. Hermione didn't think anyone was in the dorm. Her cheeks flushed red and she looked at the ground. "Oh, it's nothing really. Just today something happened and-"

"YULE BALL?!" Lavender demanded/asked.

Hermione, who was astonished at Lavender's suddent interest, decided to let her excitement out too. It couldn't hurt, and she didn't think it was good to hold in this many emotions. "YES!"

Lavender, who stood up as quick as a wink, started bouncing on the heels on her feet. Her tone changed now to an excited, almost anxious, sing-song voice. "Was it by any chance...Krrruuummmmm?"

Hermione started to blush, but soon realized to stop. She shouldn't be embarrassed by the hottest guy that's ever walked the Hogwarts' halls. "Yes."

Then, almost fractiously, the two girls started jumping up and down while giggling, something Hermione has never full-on experienced before. She wasn't even that close of friends with Lavender; they merely exchanged a couple hello's in the hallways, but it was in this moment, some kind of discrete female moment, in which the two girls ignored all other circumstances and just had to jump and down. Just had to. And in that moment, Hermione swore she was a different person. Not that she didn't like this person, she just hasn't figured what her deal was yet.

After the excitment buzz died down, other girls started piling in the room and Lavender voluntarily explained what just happened in Hermione's love life, while the other girls listened, with wide eyes and giving her envious and approving looks. Lavender didn't leave out a detail, and after she finished, the other girls exploded into conversation full of "She's so lucky!" and "I knew they were going to go together, I told you!" and "I would do anything to be her right now."

Hermione noticed that none of the girls said anything bad about it. She wasn't the prettiest girl so she was a little scared when Lavender was telling the others that they would be mean about it. She was almost positive the Slytherins were going to once they heard.

But they weren't. Hermione was on the edge with glee. Nothing could break down her vibe right now.

After she got a ton of congratulations and you're so lucky comments, she excused herself to go to the library with Harry and Ron.

"Bye Hermione!" The girls called after her. She smiled and waved back at them.

Harry and Ron were talking to each other on the sofa in the Common Room, wating for her. Once she got out of the room, Harry and Ron considered her.

After a moment of silence, Hermione was tired of the stares they were giving her. "Well..?"

"Oh, right," Harry got off the sofa, and gathered his books, while Ron followed.

"So are you going to tell us what that was about?" Ron asked, half hopefully and half anxiously.

Hermione wondered if they would make fun of her for making such a big deal about what happened with Viktor Krum. She learned today that girls make a big deal out of things, but she needed that every once in a while. To be a girl. But of course, they were her two closest friends so she had to tell them.

"Viktor Krum asked me to go to the Yule Ball with him today," she said as nonchalant as possible.

Harry and Ron exchanged a look that looked like awe and surprise; obviously something they weren't expecting. "Wow," Harry was the first to recover from the unexpected news, "Go Hermione!"

Hermione blushed and looked away. Ron laughed and said, "So, that's why it took all of you girls so long? To tell them you're going with Krum? What else did you talk about?"

Hermione looked and him and grinned. "Oh, I don't know. It's a girl thing."

Ron gave her and look and was about to open his mouth to protest for more, but entering the library cut him off.
