Hermione's P.O.V.
Draco has been acting very strange lately. He's been distant. And it's not just with me, it's with everyone. The only person he wants to talk to is Zack.
We used to talk all the time, but now, when we exchange eye contact in class, he will look away or pretend he didn't notice. Something's up. I sure hope it has nothing to do with me.
Zack, on the other hand, has been acting slightly less like him than usual. We have grown to be pretty good friends, even Harry and Ron have been talking to him much more lately, mostly about Quidditch since they're on the same team now.
My mind drifted off to when Draco and I were at the Yule Ball together. It's amazing how much can change in such a short time. We had so much fun, dancing in the middle of the Great Hall, not caring if anyone saw us together or not.
And then at the lake that one day, right after that he started to act up. I wonder if it was something that happened at his house. Should I talk to him about it?
Suddenly, I had a plan to get Draco to talk to me.
"Zack," I called out to him, he was over by some other Gryffindors, getting ready for a big game against Slytherin.
Zack looked at me and came over. "Yes, Hermione?"
"Good luck out on the field, " I smiled at him. "Can I walk down with you?"
He grinned. "Of course."
I started to walk down with Zack, knowing this was a long shot. Draco was on the Seeker on the Slytherin team, so he was probably getting ready-but still, it was worth a try.
"Are you nervous?" I asked Zack.
He smiled, again. "Not in the slightest."
"So confident you're going to win, now are you?" I teased him and he rolled his eyes sarcastically.
"Actually, yes. Don't worry though, I won't cream them by that much," he said which made me rolled my eyes, although I was amused.
His attitude changed instantly. "I, er, just have to go over..."
I stared at him. Zack always did this whenever he was about to go by Draco. I desperately wanted to know what was going on between the two of them..
Zack shifted umcomfortably. "I'll be right back," he stated and immediately set off to go over be two tall trees where Draco Malfoy stood in his green uniform, looking anxious and irratated. Probably because Zack was talking to me.
This was it. I had to do this. I waited until Zack was about a yard away from Draco, and I started off and quietly made my way over to a large tree that stood behind where they were talking.
When I was finally settled, I hoped for the best that nobody would catch me eavesdropping, espcially Zack or Draco.
She leaned her ears in closer.
