Hermione woke up the next morning in her new room. She missed being near her girlfriends in the Gryffindor dorm, but a smile plastered on her face when she remembered the big responsibility that she was given by the professors. She had a pounding headache due from the lack of sleep she had received. She crawled out of bed and smoothed her tangled hair from her face as she stumbled to the new bathroom.
The sight that greeted her as she entered the bathroom didn't help to soothe the headache. Malfoy had just entered her bathroom. Their bathroom. With her present state of irritation from the morning and headache, Hermione couldn't gather the energy to say anything so she simply ignored him.
Malfoy, only a little groggy, couldn't help but grin as Hermione began to brush her teeth. Her hair truly was a mess, her eyes were a bit puffy, and she was wearing overly large clothing.
"Not a morning person are you, Granger?" Malfoy joked.
Hermione was going to say something about not getting enough sleep last night, but she remembered Malfoy was the reason she had not gotten enough sleep last night. She was up late thinking about how she was going to handle the situation with Draco and everything that had happened last school year.
"Why did you seem so weird when I told you we had to keep this living situation professional, Draco?" Hermione asked, while managing to tame her hair.
"Well, I had intended on renouncing my position on Head Boy," he said, rather abruptly.
She turned to look at him as he was finishing up brushing his teeth. "Had intended? Does that mean you are keeping the position?" Her eyes widened in disbelief.
"That's exactly what it means," he confirmed.
"But- but why?" She asked, shocked. Why would anyone turn down this position?
He shrugged.
"My desire have changed," he stated simply while Hermione continued to study him as he washed his face.
Hermione rolled her eyes and filled up her cup with water. "Oh, excuse me. What are your desires now?"
"You," he answered bluntly.
Hermione choked on her cup of water before spraying it all over the sink. She coughed into her towel, turned towards Malfoy, and realized he was standing a mere foot away from him in only his green boxers.
"Don't be so shocked, Hermione. After everything that's happened last year, do you really think I'm going to live with you professionally?" He dried his face with a towel.
Hermione was reeling.
"No, Malfoy! This school year is going to be strictly professional. Professor McGonagall is trusting me to be a young adult and we are both in charge of several activities!" Hermione said, raising her voice.
"I can tolerate the work," Malfoy continues. "But I want you. And as Slytherin, one way or another, I will find a way to get what I want." He finished smugly.
Hermione's spine stiffened. She wasn't going to allow herself to get into a mess this school year.
"You're going to find it very difficult to get what you want once I've renounced myself from the Head Girl position and move out!" She declared.
Malfoy chuckled. "You've been dreaming of Head Girl ever since you found out about Hogwarts, Granger. There's no way in hell you're going to give it up."
Hermione glared at Malfoy's back as he laughed and walked towards his room, shutting the door behind him.
She angrily tossed her towel to the floor and locked both doors before changing into her school robes. She furiously brushed the tangles out of her hair while Malfoy's smirk kept replaying in her mind, taunting her.
