Title: Fair Weather
The fair weather friend
Always there for you in the good times
An ear they will lend
A good gossip in the sunshine
I was only ever a stand-in
You made me an imitation of a pal
I found shelter in your jolly little inn
Well, look at the weather now
You expected too much from me
You know, you were lonely as well
A lost boat guided in from the sea
In your lighthouse you let me dwell
Another wonderer in the night
In need of food and liquor
We kept out the darkness and the fright
In the days we didn't bicker
A different day, a different hat
Whilst you waited for someone better
Hedging your bets? I'll drink to that!
Like a random mass market chain letter
A way to ease your loneliness
We shared interests, i.e. yours
You took advantage of my coziness
Complacency and pettiness at my doors
People grow apart, it's true
Whinge about the small things
Look now, it's happened to me and you
"I me mine"; a song he sings
You play that game with me
I turn the other cheek
I won't always be there, you see
Our burning bridges are very weak
