Title: The Dead InsideI am the dead inside
A non-fatal cancer in every cell
Inoperable, undetectable
This symbiont; a quiet, subtle hellMassaging dying flesh
Performing expected actions
Smiling through empty eyes
Going through daily motionsThey are the dead inside
Doublethink, doublespeak
Shiny red apples rotting at the core
Earth does not belong to the meekReacting with expected sympathies
Masking flatlined emotions
Displaying social empathies
You're really just waiting to dieWe are the dead inside
We breed, we multiple
The unloved, the unlovable
Wallflowers, thorny and wiltingPaying lip service to condition
Counting wolves in sheep's clothing
Jumping fences in circular formation
Spider hurdles leading back to the startYou are the dead inside
Singing shrill and mockingbird
Rats and rabbits can scuttle it seems 'Blissfully unaware' is a disguiseThe dead inside
Expands like a leather balloon
Pressing against your rib cage
Suffocating, but not killingI am the dead inside
They are the dead inside
We are the dead inside
You are the dead insideYou are the dead inside
You are the dead
The dead inside
You
