Title: This Is Not My House
This is not my house
These are not my doors
These are not my windows
These are not my floors
This bath I lounge in
A false sense of security
It can all be taken away in a heartbeat
I can't wash away that impurity
This is not my house
I can be asked to leave at any time
I should be planning for my future
Instead I'm trying to rhyme
My tenancy may be 'secure', but,
It's not worth the paper it's written on
Mr. landlord can cometh and take away
Can tell me to up and get me gone!
I had fooled myself in affluent times
In more socialist political surroundings
Decorating this box I crawl home to
These waters; I must take further soundings
For this is not my house
And this is not my home
And I can never be comfortable with that knife to my throat
These cuts that cut to the bone
