Ah, the villain's backstory, which 90% of the time is depressing as heck to the point of tears.  Every villain seems to have a bad past, which fueled their ever growing ambitions to rule the world or do some other evil deed.  Although these tragic backstories can be quite effective, they are super cliche.  Why isn't there a lot more villains who were just born evil and lead themselves into an unforgivable dark path?  There are people in real life that had the best conditions possible, yet they still became horrible murderers or evil dictators.  It would make for more original stories, and villains that effectively chill us to the bone.
