A lot of people may not agree with me on this, but I really think it is cliche that there isn't a lot of zombies out there with any signs of humanity. I know that is what adds tension to any story using the trope of a zombie apocalypse, but just because the majority lose their humanity, it doesn't mean all zombies should. What if there were a few zombies that actually tried to fight to keep their humanity, much like Angel does as a rare vampire with a soul? I'd really love to see more stories with that idea. It would not only create very interesting internal conflict for various characters, but the audience would fully be invested to see where their path will lead them. Hey, it can be done, as seen in the show iZombie. The main character Liv fights constantly to keep her humanity, despite her condition as a new born zombie. People seem to love that show, so why can't this idea become more common?
