Don't you hate it when almost all the characters of a series are doomed?  I surely do, as it is not only a cheap way to end a story but it is cliche.  The point of creating characters is to make them relatable to the audience, thus making the plot of a story convincing to someone.  It is really a huge punch in the face then when all those awesome characters suddenly die in a last ditch effort to end a story.  One of the worst examples of this was in the final episode of American Horror Story: Freak Show, where almost every remaining character was killed off to make room for the "most important" characters.  It was extremely offensive to viewers and cost the show some credibility.  Just avoiding this idea would have saved the show so much hatred after that move.
