Just to make things clear, I wasn't trying to borrow from another cliche. That cliche was that tough guys are dumb. The differences between that cliche and this one is a character's involvement in sports. In the tough guy cliche, I only meant people who were body builders or had strong upper body strength. Here, I mean anyone involved in sports that is considered dumb. I really just hate both cliches because they really aren't true. If you meet both types of people in real life, they are usually of average intelligence or sometimes even geniuses. I don't know why both cliches exist and they really shouldn't exist.
