It would be a lie to say that authors are not prone to making mistakes every now and then.  Authors are in the end human beings, and are prone to messing up once in a while.  Saying an author is perfect is completely cliche.  As a writer myself, I can say I've made my share of mistakes in the past.  For example, I once made the mistake of calling Lorenzo Mitchell in my first review of the Ridonculous Race.  The mistake was pointed out by a reader and I fixed it.  From that experience, I learned that I'm prone to making a mistake once in a while, and that I'm only human because of that.  I'm going to make my share of mistakes, and when I make them, it'll be an experience to learn from.  The same goes for any author, even the best ones like Steven King or J.K. Rowling.  Steven King has made a lot of bad movies based off of his novels, while J.K. Rowling made the mistake of making a few of her characters end up with the wrong people.  Like me, they learned from these mistakes and in the future made sure to be a bit more careful.
