To those who have never heard of this term, it is very simple.  As said by TV Tropes, fladerization is when one trait of a character is exaggerated beyond belief, to the point the character becomes one dimensional.  This cliche trait has plagued many series in the past, who after usually running out of ideas, flatten their characters so more stories are possible.  A very notorious example of fladerization being present in a piece of media is on the cartoon SpongeBob.  After the series was renewed despite the creator's intentions to end it after the movie, almost all of the characters were fladerized.  It was a result of desperation for new ideas and adding a few new writers to the staff.  As of now, this has gotten slightly better after the second movie, but the damage has been done.  Canceling the series after three seasons would have been the best course of action.  The characters would have remained timeless, as well as the episodes, and the reputation of the show wouldn't have gotten so tainted.  The same goes for most series after a certain point, who should end their series after five to six years to avoid any possible fladerization from occurring.
