Go away (Chapter 12)

This is going to be in Matt's POV! 

I am happy. Gabby and I have been together for 6 years. It's been so great for us. I feel like it's time for us to settle down. Well we need to settle more. It's been so long and we know what we want. In ways it's almost like were married and were that old couple. I just know what I have to do. I want to marry her. I want to propose. 

We both got ready for work. It was nice being able to leave at the same time. She was brushing her teeth as I got dressed. I put my arms around her back as she was in front of the sink " so... maybe we think about taking some time.." She finished brushing her teeth, and turned around to look at me. She smiled " like what.." I laughed " I.. don't know... get away for a couple days... we never do that.. you know!" She smiled " yeah.. it would be nice... wake up somewhere that's not necessarily Chicago..." I kissed her " Well let's think about it... I gotta go.. I love you!" She held me close " Love you too.... keep your badge off the wall... ok?" I smiled " of course!!" 

I went to work and I knew I had to tell someone. It was just who in the house do I trust. I know someone would tell. Severide looked at me " hey man... what's up?" I looked at him, and I knew I could tell him  " Actually.... I have something I'd like to tell you.." He looked at me and laughed                 " okay...." I smiled " so... I've been thinking... and.. I'm going to propose to Gabby!" He smiled " That's great man!" I laughed " so I'm not sure how yet... and I have to get a ring.... I've got to ask her father for.." Severide laughed " calm down man... easy... I'll help you with the ring... Shay too!" I laughed " oaky... I have something in my mind... I just need you guys to come see it after shift!" Severide nodded " sure..."
