Lock And Load (Chicago P.D.)

Chapter 29

          "Camille, it's time to go to Grandpa's!" I yell from the front door. Steve has been here for a week now and things have gone remarkably well between us since we made up.

Tonight Sean, Steve, Camille, and I are going for dinner at Dad's with the rest of the family. None of them have met Steve but they've all heard about what he has done to me so I'm nervous about what they might do to him. In a family of police officers you can never know what their next move will be.

In no time at all Camille arrives at the door. I help her with her coat and shoes and then the four of us go down to my car. Steve gets Camille buckled into her car seat and then hops in beside her while Roman and I hop in the front. Once everyone is settled in I quickly start my car and pull out of my parking spot.

In no time at all we've arrived at Dad's. We all walk up to the front door and Camille eagerly rings the doorbell. In no time I hear footsteps approaching the door and then Dad answers it. We all enter and make our way to the living room. Camille goes and sits on Jay's lap while Sean, Steve, and I take a seat on the couch. Once I see that everyone is already here I clear my throat and say, "Everyone, this is Steve, Camille's Dad. Steve, this is my dad Hank, my brother Justin, my sister-in-law Olive, my nephew Zach, my sister Erin Halstead, and my brother-in-law Jay Halstead."

They all nod at him but then continue to shoot him dagger-like stares. I groan and say, "Guys, I know that we're a family of cops and all but it's okay. He's not a threat to me or Camille. We've made up and he's treating me better now, I promise."

They all nod and then Dad says, "Well Steve, even if you've inflicted a lot of pain on my daughter, you are technically part of the family, so welcome to it."

I see Steve sigh in relief as everyone else begins in a friendly conversation as Dad gets up to check on supper.

So first of all, that new Casey fanfic that I was telling you guys about is going to be a thing! It's called Murderous Love and I'll be putting it up right away. I would greatly appreciate if you guys could go and check it out!

Secondly, I'll be trying to make my chapters longer as many of you have expressed that longer chapters are something you would like. As I play around with lengths, if there is one that you like, please let me know so that I can do more of it! My main goal here is to make my readers happy while maintaining the suspense I like to have in each chapter.
